13/14 Mar Novice School and event...Car Class?

    Hey all,

I am excited about the upcoming event and was wondering if I could get input on vehicle classes.  I plan on waiting to purchase a helmet, mostly because I am hoping to be able to try a loaner open face and full face before I make a decision.  However, I don't want to show up completely empty handed.  I will most likely purchase a set of numbers and depending on what comes of this message the class letters as well.  So,  what class do you think my 2001 Mustang GT will be placed in with the following mods (per the previous owner...I bought it just last weekBig Smile)?

    Under-drive pulleys

    Exaust (larger diameter I believe)

    Steda short throw shifter

    Steda 1 inch lower springs

Do I need any documentation?  I might be able to get it from the prvious owner, if need be.

Thanks and see you at the event!

E-Street Prepared (ESP) or STU (maybe even STX actually, can't remember). Depends on tire choice. Assuming you're on street tires, so either street tire class with the ESP index or STU. STU index (index is the what your time is multiplied by to give an overall time against other classes) is probably lower. If you're a novice street tire class may be more worthwhile, as more novices tend to begin there.

Mustangs are in STX. All of the naturally aspirated ones anyway.

You won't really need your numbers for the Novice School.  You're mainly competing against yourself on that day, and they will provide school numbers to keep you straight in the timing system.  On event day though, you'll want to bring them.

At the school we provide the numbers. Last year the SAC approved making numbers for the school and SPS provided their typically high quality product. We number the cars 1 through 30, breaking the group into two heats of odd and even numbers. Class letters are not important as the event is not competitive. Times are recorded only in a master log  for the student and instructor to gauge progress. The times are not published.
