Clarification - How to calculate front splitter / spoiler area for ST?

I've searched and can't find clarifcation on how to calculate the SA (Surface Area) for Splitters/Spoilers, is it:

    1) the actual/real SA (taking into account for any curvature)

    2) calculated similar to a rear wing

    3) surface area as veiwed from above

The rules appear to only give guidance for a rear wing (section 12.9)...I would assume method #1 is correct b/c the rules don't give guidance to calculate it any other way, so the actual SA would seem most logical (unless I've missed a rule somewhere).

I've got a front lip that I'd considered a splitter...it's got about 2 inches of vertical curvature, and sticks out about 3 inches in the middle.

I've also got the "standard" CSP miata spoiler...the rule only gives guidance for a rear wing.

     Thanks!!!

    14.2 F...

Surface area of all splitters, spoilers and rear wing (see 12.9)
shall not exceed 5 square feet in sum total. Substitution of rear
spoilers or wings must retain any original third brake light functionality
unless otherwise equipped. No underbody panels may
be added or substituted. The drilling of holes for the purpose of
    mounting these pieces is permitted

    12.9 WING AREA COMPUTATION
The area of a wing element shall be computed by multiplying the
maximum chord (straight line distance from leading edge to trailing
edge) by the maximum span (width). Curvature of the element
(camber) and angle of attack when mounted on the vehicle will not
affect the area measurement. The area for multiple-element wings
will be the sum of the individual areas of each of the elements. Any
airfoil shadowed by another airfoil with more than six inches between
them will have its own projected area added to the wing area
calculation. Any diffuser-type aerodynamic device under the car
which is used in downforce generation is not included in the wing
    area calculation.
