TedDBere:Is everybody ready for an electric car in SS?
Is this another "The z06 is dead! Long live the z06!" thread?

Living out here in the SF Bay Area, I've seen a bunch of Teslas running around...and a couple ran at a recent Lotus club event, so maybe we'll see a few give it a try...I'm at a loss to understand why the car was placed in a stock class, maybe some kind of SCCA "green statement" or something?
As far as being competitive, the car appears to accelerate really well, but handling is of the push pig variety. I don't know that stock class fiddling will allow dialing out physics

Re: July Fastrack Proposals
And the Audi R8 to SS doesn't even rate a comment? I have driven the R8 at an autox, and I can say without a doubt it would not be something to just dismiss out of hand as being uncompetitive - and I am fully aware of how much it weighs. No doubt in my mind it is the sweetest handling car I have been in. Just a tad weak in power to weight with a measly 420hp, but how often does sheer acceleration come into play? Not that often, to say the least, and it will put down every bit of it, 100% of the time. I sure don't remember this going out for member comment....

Does the R8 listing specify just the 4.2 V8 car? They do have a 5.2 V10 version...
Edit: nevermind, I spent the 5 minutes required to answer the question myself. No V10, Lambo engined Audi in SS...bummer, I was all set to order one.

Re: July Fastrack Proposals
There were a couple proposals published for the R8. Most recently, 4/09, was its inclusion in the new Super-Duper Stock, along with a group of cars also including the 997 GT3. Further back in 8/08, it was being considered at the time as part of a big SS class shakeup, again alongside the 997 GT3.
I'm curious what new information came to light that spurred this action by the SAC/SEB. Or perhaps, who amongst them bought one.
Could also be it's just a publishing screw-up, wouldn't be the first time...

Super-duper stock is exactly where it belongs.

Or they decided to go ahead and dump the super-duper stock cars in to SS. I think that was one of the options... Dave G.

Re: July Fastrack Proposals
Looks like the sunset rule will go through:
"
“A car will remain eligible for Divisional, National Tour, and National Championship events through the end of the 30th calendar
year after the manufacturer-designated model year of the car.”
Also add in Appendix A, to the abbreviations: “R – Regional Competition Only”"
