Great job Indy Region in Terre Haute

Andy and I just got back to St. Louis within the last hour - I just wanted to say thanks for a top notch event - it was a blast - course was fun and you guys put on a hell of a show with all those real race cars  :)

You definitely have the largest contingent of "probably unecessarily loud" Miata's I've ever seen :P

    Thanks again!

Heres the link to the news story and video from todays event.  I'm dissappointed they didnt use the Caddy for any of their shots!

EDIT:  apparently, due to some glitch in this shitty forum software, you have to cut and paste the link.  If you click on it, you'll just go to the WTHI main page.

    Hey, I resemble that remark!

Good to see you again, Nick and thanks for making the drive. I'll have a beer for you in Blytheville.

Edit: By the way, I heard the Autism Speaks girl that you took for a ride gushing about how much fun and how fast it was. Thanks for doing that for us.

Another big thanks to all the Rose guys and girls. The club can't thank you enough for all the work you put in to help make the event a success! You guys were there early to get everything set up and stayed late to help pack Da' Bus. We greatly appreciate all of your effort!

I, as well as the rest of the chiefs, am looking forward to working with all of you Sophomores and Juniors again next year! I suppose you Freshmen can help out too. Cool

See if she wants to come down to Arkansas :) Nothing says FUN like a weekend with a bunch of strange guys in a podunk town in Arkansas

BTW - I still don't know how you pulled out that 41.5 in those conditions in the first heat...insane

I'm glad we were able to help.  We (our club) benefit greatly from the events you guys put on, so it was a nice chance to contribute a bit.  Hopefully the event yesterday will help Team Rose Motorsports grow over the next school year.  Was everything okay from the airport's standpoint?

Also, a big thank you to everyone who let spectators ride with you (especially the students from Rose).  Getting people rides and convincing them to try it for the first time is what makes our club grow.

    Glad you liked it, Nick.

When I saw your times while working in T&S for your heat, I was quite impressed. A few of us went to dinner after the event and I had to ask Geoff "who in the world is Nick Jackson?". lol Big Smile

Where is the behind the scene footage and more video on the website?

Great event - great weather - thanks everyone for all the work.Yes I sure hope we can do this again next year - I'll bet we made a good impression. I really like the charity feature to this event too.

Yeah we'll be there Brian - gotta love those 3 day weekends :)

Going to Blytheville in a few weeks too - are you going to make it down?

Attached is the course map of my two fastest runs - 41.1 and 40.4 - clearly you can see there were two different ways to get through the middle section of offsets - the red trace (slower run) was quicker through that section by a couple tenths - I made up most of the difference however at the finish. The difference in lines really wasn't as great as it looks on the image - the black run is slightly offset to the southeast - not by much though - there really is only one trace to get through a slalom - its maybe only 1-2' off where I really was

For those curious - avg speed was 36 or so, topped out at 54 and carried 53 through the slalom  - grip numbers were very similar to our asphalt surface here if not a bit down - about 1.18g's at 95% of maximum (to eliminate spikes and whatnot) - absolute highest including spikes was 1.35 - down from 1.4 or so at Gateway the previous weekend

Re: Great job Indy Region in Terre Haute

That is a cool image. I need to get some fancy tracking stuff.

I am looking at my T-shirt - just curious if anyone knows why the end of the course was changed so much? I like the end on the T shirt course better. I assume it was a safety issue - maybe the course got too close on the final hairpin or maybe the grid needed more room?  It looks like it might have used up more of the open course and provided a nice turn into a slalom finish to add another technical element.

My favorite part of the design was the turn out of the first mini-slalom ('section 2 in the picture above) into the zig-zags. Kind of a less cones is more section. There were a lot of visually tricky elements - not confusing - but tricky - which is good. And the turn into the full slalom was similar and proved even tougher for me. I kept breaking lose on the entrance to that slalom (except my final run thankfully). I want to try to get an element like that in the grissom course I am putting together.

It was a course that definitely demanded patience and a lot of footwork. I liked it! - I only wished it was a bit longer, but I think safety issues (and first impression concerns) limited size (and top speed) a bit.

That's interesting Nick. I was seeing G readings closer to Grissom concrete (but not quite) than to asphalt. It seemed pretty similar to Toledo to me.
