clip from Watkins Glen, now the link should work

     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAQAlf8--zE

Race for first place in T2, I was on intermediates in the Evo, Kleeman was on Hoosier rains in the 350Z, He obviously chose the better tire but it made for some good racing.

    Marty

Do you have the start? My video did not start in the confusion of turning the car on and off changing tires.

    Thanks

Re: clip from Watkins Glen, now the link should work

I feel bad that I had 2 sets of rains at last sunday's race and others had none. I had switched over to 18 in wheels on the C6 late last year and still have my 17 inch rains( unmounted). We helped Dave Sanders change over to wets but couldn't help Joe Gaudette.

It's too much too late but I will sell the 17 in Hoosier wets for $50/tire plus shipping. for any T1 vette that needs 17's.

Those were very wet and dangerous racing conditions.

    John,

I told my crew to first change my tires then help anyone that needed help. Dave's father said he had tires so they were targeted as the first; Joe was also "in line" for help but he elected to stay on slicks and still finished 7th (change you underwear after that, Joe?).

The conditions were VERY bad. I like running in the rain, but after almost collecting the guardrail going up the esses on the first lap, I decided to let John and AJ have at it. I wanted to race them (and Dr Bob) in a real bad way, but not under those conditions. Sfter my weekend I really needed to bring the car home in one piece.

I was just glad I didnt get smacked at the start, I was already bracing for the impacts. John, next race ill stop by and see what tires you are running, and run the opposite since we both chose intermediates. That said, it stopped raining on the last lap so had we gone a few more laps we would have looked pretty smart! Marty

Marty - nice job on the win :)  We had a great, close, clean race (except for my little solo incident...eh'em) and hope to do it again soon. I'm digitizing my video now and will get a link up soon.

Appreciate that Brian, and thanks for the great drive!!. Glad to see you got a podium finish after all that-Im sure that last lap would have been pretty crazy. Hows the car? Have fun with CJ (Evo) at LRP, if you go to Pocono ill see you there.

The car is not bad - the biggest problem was that I got stuck in the wet grass. It would have made the finish if I could have gotten it back onto the pavement :( And the points for 3rd certainly helped.

Here's the video with the not-so-happy ending:

    Hi Brian,

Man, was it wet! Looked like Oregon!

As hairy as the conditions looked (great drive by the way) I couldn't stop laughing at the Audio. Some guys sing, some humm, some talk while driving.

Big difference in how those two cars put the power down but still looked pretty even.

Re: clip from Watkins Glen, now the link should work

hehe...actually my excuse is that we had another guy on track in a T-1 Corvette and a spotter on the front straight - we were trying to let him know what the conditions were.

    the "f-ck f-ck f-ck" was all me though :)

I have been known to sing to my teammates over the radio during enduros however :)

Re: clip from Watkins Glen, now the link should work

Cool video, interesting to see if from your view. I have another clip where I had a tank slapper as well going into T1, I think that sealant they put down really upset the cars when it got wet, it was more like black ice. BTW does my car seem quiet or what? Good news is I could hear where you were before I even saw you :)

Yeah, that was a fiasco for us.  The truck was hitched to the trailer, the rains were on the rack, Rhondas pit cart can't carry 4 tires.  I just sat on the grid and watched it all slip away.  I knew i was in trouble when i was having trouble keeping up on the pace lap with the Toyota Tundra!!!  Thanks for the offer of help, total sportsmanship, but it just wasn't in the cards.  I really wanted a good race, wet or dry, just to be on a level playing field.  Looks like the Glen is becoming my monkey......

Thanks Dave, but it wasn't in the cards.  I've never gotten steamrolled like that on a start before, it was definately a hairy few seconds.  I wanted a good run too, I was gonna try to beat Dave S. into the line behind your hot rod.  Maybe next year!

Wow, after seeing these videos of troubles even on rain tires i don't feel too bad anymore.  Wallowing around for 4 laps stinks though, at above 60mph my car was worthless and SCARY!  Good job to all who survived, Charles and Brian, hope the cars are good to go!
