KC National Tour: Registration is OPEN!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know, that the registration is open for this event. There is an entry cap of 250 at this event, so enter early.

This event is just 2 weeks before Nationals, and we have arranged with a local storage facility for storage of cars and rigs at the same location that we store the club truckster, which is only a short distance from the site. Its secure storage for your rigs for those 2wks at a reasonable rate. This might give you some fly in/out options for the Nationals. Something to consider.

I am the event chair for this event. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you may have. I'm sorry this is such late notice for this event. But I started working on the National office back in December of 07, and got the intial date of Aug 30/31. But the problem with that date was that the Sports Complex couldn't verify the Chiefs football schedule until now. So that is the reason for the late announcement. I feel that our 1st class site and great KC hospitality will be enough reason for you to squeeze this event into your already full schedule. Kansas City has plenty of entertainment options for you and your family to keep everyone happy.

I promiss that we will have a great course lined up for you, by one of our great course designers. The site is plenty big and smooth, and offers some great elevation changes and banking for some serious on/off camber challenges. The surface is asphalt but offers great grip levels, much better than HPT.

I hope to see you in August!

Again, if there are any questions, just drop me a line. greno@sunflower.com

I called SCCA National office yesterday, and I got a Street Tire class added to our event. It will operate just like all the other classes.I tried getting them to have it pax based on your car class. But they thought that was too much work. So its just fast time in class wins. Enter under AM, and in the notes put Street Tire Class.

You added a street tire class to a National Tour? Why?

we had this at the packwood NT last year too - only difference is that trophies were awarded based on PAX, not raw-time.  the class was well-subscribed.

There is (and has been) a Street Tire class at the Milwauke Tour, as well.  It will be based on PAX scoring.  I don't understand why you're hitting a wall on this issue?

The street tire class here in KC has a large number of participants.

I think its a smart move trying to get some new blood involved.

Can't seem to locate the Holiday Inn that's right across the street.  No hotel info available yet on the wesite either.  Stayed at the Drury Inn before, but they don't have drinks!  :)

Can you direct me to that hotel with phone number or address.  Holiday Inn website doesn't show it.

There's a reason for that. That has to be the worst Holiday Inn in the country.

Actually, the Drury has FREE DRINKS!

Yeah, no kidding.  Free Happy Hour each day, with snacks, too.  We stayed there for Evo schools this year (Thanks Bob!) and it was quite comfy.  I highly recommend it.

And when I reserved it a week or 2 ago, it was very cheap (like ~$60 cheap depending on the room you choose).

Ya think?? At the Divisional this spring the KC Region had registration there. Late in the afternoon I finished my duties as equipment chief once the course was set. I hopped back up to registration and decided to have a drink. When I ask the bartender (???) for a martini he stared at me like i asked for Romulan ale --- he had NO idea how to mix a martini, and asked me to help him. THERE WAS NO VERMOUTH AT THE BAR. Slick operation there, huh? I wonder if the beds had pillows?

    Stay at the Drury.

Some of the gang from the KC autocross scene have come up with this list of things to do while in KC. Believe it or not, there is more to Kansas City than just cow tipping and lousy baseball.

Heres the link to the mokanmotorsports.com forum for some of the activities in case you need to turn this into a mini family vacation to keep the spouse happy.

Re: KC National Tour: Registration is OPEN!!!

Since the National office hasn't gotten their Hotel service working yet. I took it upon myself to negotiate a local hotel deal. The Holiday Inn isn't a great hotel, like others have already said. Of the 3 hotels at that intersection, The Drury is by far the nicest.  Dave, if you call the hotel, they can transfer your room into our block. I know my price isn't any better, but there isn't a $25 cancellation fee like the online special has. We have 15 king n/s,  for $59. And we have 15 Double n/s, for $69. So a total of 30 rooms blocked.

We are planning a great event for Kansas City Sports Car Club of America!  Rooms have been held for our group at the Drury Inn & Suites – Kansas City Stadium.

To make reservations, please click on the link below.

    https://reservations.druryhotels.com/GroupReservationConfirmation.aspx?GroupNo=2040252

The hotel offers great amenities, such as:

    ·        FREE!  HOT! QUIKSTART ® Breakfast- Enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, Belgian waffles & more!

    ·        FREE!  Evening Beverages and Snacks now served daily from 5:30-7:00pm

    ·        FREE!  High-Speed Internet Access in Every Room

    ·        FREE!  NEW!  Free Long Distance - One Hour Every Room, Every Night!

Please make your reservations by Tuesday, July 29, 2008 to receive our group rate.  Reservations made after this date will be subject to prevailing rate and availability.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Greg Reno

Ha, ha....OK I give in!  I only saw the Holiday Inn when I went there to register...seemed OK from the outside!  :)

I just booked at Drury through the great link provided by Greg, and it is a nice place.  Yes, they did have free drinks...just not at the right time.  BYOB.  Thanks Greg!!

Re: KC National Tour: Registration is OPEN!!!

Event is this weekend.  Still time to sign up.  Still plenty of room under the cap.

As a reminder, several people locally are offering storage space for trailer rigs if you want to leave them for Nationals.
