New Car... and a roadtrip!
Almost 4 years ago I bought the Lotus Elise and did a crazy roadtrip across the country since it was in Georgia. Now, I am doing a similar trip with the new car. The Elise is sold and getting faster in very capable hands. It should do well in ASP. I bought a Noble M400
Some question about classing this car in solo. Nationally, I guess it is AMOD for me... but I really think it deserves to play in SM2 as a good fit for the class. Or E-Mod. Seems to me that it is "production car" based as just about anything else competitive in that class. ;) I did send a letter, but have not heard anything. Anyway... whatever, I will play in AMOD then. I may not be competitive, but I will be having fun. Some quick specs- 2350 pounds. Over 430 wheel hp. Over 430 pounds of torque from a twin turbo fed Ford V6. 18" rubber all around. We think it will be 315 series on the rear. 275s on the front? Need to do some testing.

Re: New Car... and a roadtrip!
So the Roadtrip.... http://www.chasecam.com/roadtrip/ I will be driving north from Florida to Deals Gap. Spend some time in NC and Tenn driving around Tail of the Dragon, then head north to Detroit. Over to Chicago and Autbahn, then back to SoCal via Route 66. Then collapse. :)

Re: New Car... and a roadtrip!
When do you expect to be hitting the Dragon? Ive been looking for an excuse to head back down that way, and hearing that thing roar through is all the excuse I could stand!

Howdy,
Neat car, I'll be interested to hear what you think about it!
Autox-wise, I wouldn't hold your breath on either SM2 or EM... I would think it'd be a pretty good threat in SM2 and doesn't meet any of the eligibility requirements (I don't think) and EM really doesn't like aero.
I bet you're looking at BM or AM.

Re: New Car... and a roadtrip!
Check this if you haven't http://www.historic66.com/
There are other sites too. The above is available in printed form along the route.
My VOY trip was to Long Beach GP and I drove the roads less traveled to get there and back and had a great time.
all the route 66 roads we traveled in NMEX and ARIZ were wide 2 lane or Interstate.
OK has a State hwy 66 that parallels the original. I enjoyed some time on that enroute to Hallett some time back.
Good luck. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did. 4600 miles/4400 photos/16days

E-Mod. Take the wing off. :) In fact, change the body to one that looks like an existing production car in E-Mod and it would be legal I think. Reality is, the idea that E MOD is based on "production cars" seems a little archaic when you look at what is really running there. Kinda like NASCAR using stock cars right? I do agree it should be competitive in SM2, if it was allowed to play there. Would it beat up the RX7s? I doubt it. But it would be close. :) And no, it does not otherwise meet any eligibility requirements. But it fits in spirit IMO. I also think it would fit in spirit in a new Uber Stock class. But it may be an overdog there (or not), with the main hurdle being classifying what is stock on a purpose built car. Not that you will not have that same problem on many exotics. The good news, is locally we have a class for the car. I think it will do well there too. SU. Street Unlimited. And in Los Angeles, CSM. California Street Mod.

I totally agree that if you take away the aero, it should be a legal EM car.

I probably don't know enough about these cars... My impression was that they were made in _very_ low #'s and were much more like Factory Five Racing cobra kit cars than they were like 'actual production cars'. If that's a correct impression... I don't think they fit anything like the spirit of SM2 or Uber-Stock.
The good news, is locally we have a class for the car. I think it will do well there too. SU. Street Unlimited. And in Los Angeles, CSM. California Street Mod.
For sure. The regional "street licensed, DOT tires, run whatcha brung!" are a perfect fit for a car like this. The problem is that if those rules become national and people get serious about it, you'll see Sam Platt put a couple headlights on his "beyond GT-1 spec" corvette and register it in Minnesota or whatever... :-)
Anyway, I'm sure you're not buying the car as an autox car primarily... I'll be really interested to see what you think of it!

Re: New Car... and a roadtrip!
When the wastegate on that car opens up, it sounds exactly like that '70's song, "Ring My Bell." I swear that I'm going to play that song on the loudspeakers while he's running next time!

With the wing removed, it would be legal for E-Mod assuming the front aero is legal. D and E Mod are production cars, but don't have to be US market cars. The Noble was a production car in the UK. You might get a waiver to run it in XP because the chassis can be documented, but he drivetrain can't. The problem with US delivered cars is that there is no "stock" drivetrain. Because the car was sold less drivetrain to circumvent federal requirements for production cars, only the chassis configuration can be nailed down.

Re: New Car... and a roadtrip!
But in reality there was a stock drivetrain, though there may have been variances in build. The cars were delivered from the UK without a drivetrain and then the drivetrain was added. But it was a certain specification. Regardless, I don't want to run in XP. Front aero on the car (there is an optional bolt on splitter) is part of the body shape. Thanks!
