    275/40R17 hossier A6 on a 17x8 wheel

Hey guys would it be safe to run a 275/40R17 hossier A6 on a 17x8 wheel the minimun width hoosier reccomends is a nine inch?

you definitly won't be the first or last person to do this. people put the 275 V710 (which is alot harder to mount) on the 17x8" wheel. but yea, subies and mustangs and a bunch of other cars will run the 275 on the 8".

Tire shops usually won't recommend it, but it's not for street use and they don't usually understand R-compounds very much.

The 710s rub a little on on the EVO9 - not sure about the Hoosiers.

the 295/35-17 A6 will fit an 8" wheel, whether or not it will fit the car is another matter

They'll actually fit on a 7.5. It isn't pretty, but we didn't have too much trouble getting it mounted.

Anyone ever get a 315/35R17 on a 9" wide wheel? Don't know if it will fit even on the car, the 295's are a little big but it does make me wonder If I can go larger. Probably just a pipe dream.

If it is a Hoosier it will be easy.  I am putting 285's on a 7.5 inch rim and they are great.  I know for a fact that someone is going to be putting a new 315/30/19 on a 9 inch rim.  All I can say is a 285/30/18 Hoosier is easier to mount than a 245/35/18 Kuhmo on the same 7.5 inch wheel.  I also prefer the feel of the Hoosiers.

    Re: 275/40R17 hossier A6 on a 17x8 wheel

I and others are running the 295/30-18 A6 on an 8" wheel and it actually looks like an optimum fit compared to a 285/30-18 etc., less face/sidewall curvature = bigger contact patch

since the 295/35-17 will have an even longer sidewall than the above (tire OD the same, smaller rim OD for 17") it should work well if it fits the wheelwell

I agree with Keith on the A6 feel even on the oversize tire

Thanks guys, now I just have to see if legally I can get these things under the car. I doubt it.
