    New member

Just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself to everyone. I've been interested in racing (all kinds) for quite a while now. I've mostly just participated in trophy racing at the Muncie Dragway on wednesday nights but have always been interested in Autocross and Rally racing.
The only Autocrossing I've done was a small track at the Car and Driver 50th anniversary event in Indianapolis a few years back. I was signed up for the Viper and a WRX STi, but unfortunately, the viper reservation got screwed up, and they also had problems getting the STi's. So I got my first chance at autocrossing in a stock 2005 WRX and I fell in love with both.
So anyway, long story short, I just happened to be talking to a guy at work today and found out he autocrosses here in Ft. Wayne and I thought I'd check it out.

I do have a question maybe someone could help me out with... I see that there is an event coming up and I had a few questions about it. I'd like to at least check an event out (just be a observer) but possibly start participating in events. So do I need to be a member to observe and/or participate in an event like the Gymkhana Star? If not, what are the benefits of being a member?

    Welcome to the Club!

My name is Todd James.  I will be at the event on Sunday.  You don't need to be a member or anything to come check things out.  All you have to do is sign our insurance waiver and meet everyone (I am assuming you are over 18).  You are more than welcome to ride with me if you want.  Tom Miller (our last Autocross Director) was down at the Car and Driver thing a few years ago.  He had a great time and had some neat stories.

I am driving the black EVO.  Feel free to come introduce yourself.  We have a great group of people in our Club.

    See you Sunday!

    Todd J.

    Sarmo-

If you want to particpate, just show up and people will let you know what to do (if you ask).  No need to participate if you don't want to, but plenty of people, including myself, have chosen to participate in an Autocross before actually seeing one.  New this year, there is a "weekend membership" for people who are not "full memebers" but want to participate, but it does count towards an annual membership at a discount.

I remember some of the coverage on the C&D event at (then) IRP, but I was not there.  I did live in Indy at the time and I think it was earlier in the year that I helped out with a "Rotary Revolution" event at IRP.  Chuck (Black 05 STi) was there, in an RX3, but I am not sure if he frequents this forum now.  He will be at Sunday's event sporting various stickers, including Team Awesome Sauce.

    Go TEAM.RIDE!!!!

Perfect weekend for an Air National Guard drill (Sat/Sun) so I get to miss another autox event.  I missed the school and racing in April because I did a road course school that weekend.

Oh well, I'll meet you guys one of these days.  Smile

    Welcome Sarmo!
