Roll bar questions for Street Modified

I'm planning to install a roll bar in my Evo and have a couple of questions about legality.  It's going to have a main hoop and an X bar that mounts in the trunk by the shock towers.  I'd like to remove the felt head liner so that the main hoop can be taller to provide more protection for my head.  Would that headliner deletion cause me any rule issues?  Also, can I gusset the main hoop to the B pillar for more support of the main hoop?

     Thanks!

Re: Roll bar questions for Street Modified

Regarding the headliner, you can probably remove just enough of the headliner (a couple small strips) to allow proper positioning of the roll bar under section 16.1.P in the Solo2 rules.

Regarding the roll bar, the Solo2 roll bar rules (Appendix C) are so lax that you can run as many mounts to the body as you want.  Four mounting points to the body is typical.  Anything other then that will generate some interest from your competitors and the tech inspectors.

EDIT:  Strike what I posted above regarding the roll bar mounting.  The inscrutable Solo2 rule book has struck again.  You have to read back to the Stock section 13.2.H to find out what they define as a roll bar, and even then they define it by omission (Ack!).  The pertinent sentence: "A roll cage has more then four attachment point to the body or frame, or has bracing both fore and aft of the main hoop."  What that means is that adding the additional mounting point o the B pillar turns you roll bar into a roll cage.  Now you have to comply with the SCCA road racing cage building rules in the GCR.

    Appendix C, section H,  Says

It is recommended but not mandatory that all cars utilize a roll cage as defined in section 18 of the GCR.

In stock class they can only be bolted in.
