Pan Am Club Racers have successful weekend @ Double National:
It was another good showing for PanAm Club Racers at the Ice Breaker Double National event held at Pueblo Motorsports Park over the April 12th weekend. National Points Champion Stan Czacki and Jose Gerardo piloted their race cars to another great weekend and representation for our Pan Am Region. On Saturday, Stan Czacki in class SSB finished 12th in an overall field of 24 racers. In his respective class, Stan finished in 4th place. Over in the FC class Jose Gerardo took a 4th place finish in an overall field of 27 racers and a 1st in his class. Congratulations Stan and Jose for a strong showing on Saturday.
If Saturday was not enough for these Pan Am Club Racers, well Sunday proved to be another good overall day. Both Stan and Jose were back for another day of racing. On the 2.2 mile track, Stan Czacki finished 14th out of a field of 20 racers and scored another 4th place finish in his respective class. Jose Gerardo back on the track after a 1st place showing in his class on Saturday scored a 9th place finish in an overall field of 24, while taking home a 3rd place finish in his class.
Both Stan and Jose have now recorded 6 National event races for 2008 and the season has hardly begun. Both Stan and Jose were strong finishers in the Arizona region earlier this year. Both National drivers, now qualify for a berth and invitation to the National SCCA Runoffs to be held later this year. For a small region like the Pan Am SCCA Region, these two National racers have done an outstanding job in representing our region.
Richard Dziak in his Phoenix Formula F1000 secured his first Regional Championship in the Arizona Regional Saguaro Championship Series for the 2007-2008 season. Wanting to debut his Phoenix F1000 in May 2008 at La Junta Raceway, Richard will have to delay that event due to recent ear reconstruction surgery and his medical team prohibits him from racing until a full recovery period. He plans to have his first RMD race in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 8th and 9th, 2008.
Hector Maldonado has received his Novak F1000 conversion chassis and is working hard to complete the conversion of his 1998 Van Diemen F2000 to the new class F1000 using a Suzuki 1000cc superbike engine. Surely he will be out at ArroyoSecoRaceway testing the car once he completes the conversion. All of the Pan Am Club Racers look forward to Hector's return to Club Racing.
The PanAm Club Racing team is moving forward with more entries than ever before. We welcome all new club racers like John Basler, and welcome questions and interests from other racers who might want to seek club racing licenses or status. For information on SCCA Club Racing, please contact Richard Dziak, Stan Czacki or Jose Gerardo all local Pan Am Region members.
We wish all Pan Am Club Racers success in the races ahead, and the fine representation to our very own Pan Am Region #81.
