    Re: alignment

If you are looking for a top notch alignment you may want to look into Lake Country Alignments. My buddy Justin's new shop. Most of the top dogs from the MKE events go there for their alignments as well as myself. Justin is a straight forward guy that will tell you exactly what he is doing and why he is doing it.

His shop is located in Oconomowoc, yes it's going to be a long haul for an alignment. But it's worth it! If you decide to use him for your alignment, be sure to tell him Jake with the White Civic Hatch sent ya!

    thanks.

I was beginning to think no one was going to divulge their secret alignment shop!

    Re: alignment

I took mine to Sears, but that was back when my car was just a street car.  They did OK, but you can visually tell I have more camber on one rear wheel than the other.  It drove straight and my tire wear was even; That's all I cared about back then.

    Re: alignment

The best way that I have found to get a good alignment and know that it is done right is by doing it yourself.  Here is a link to a DIY alignment write-up that I did for my online car club: DIY Alignment

Of course there will be some variations depending on what kind of car you have, but the basic stuff is all the same.

    Re: alignment

I don't feel confident doing it myself.  I'd rather pay someone so it's not in my head while I'm driving...

    Any shops closer to Chicago?

I'd rather not subject myself to the 94/Milwaukee construction

    http://www.addisonwheelalignment.com/

I've gone there a couple times on the recommendation of some other autox'ers.  Older place and equipment, but they're pretty knowledgeable and will do whatever you want and know how to do it.  You can sit in the car during the alignment if you prefer as well.

    Re: alignment

I couldn't get into the Addison place any time soon & Fall Line recomended Thallmann's in Northbrook.  They took care of my car before work this morning.

one side in front was a degree short on camber.  that's why my steering wheel was off after I installed the crash bolts.  They fixed it.  There was also a Cheetah in the shop...

    Mike,

I see you notice the important things.  There is a perpetual beer supply in the fridge.  Whenever work is done in the garage it is consumed, and then re-stocked before the next session.

    Re: alignment

NTB on Dundee Road has done several good alignments for me, which means they aligned it to the numbers I gave them and let me sit in the car while they did it.
