Aren't all of the 4th gen civics on the same line in CSP? I'm pretty confident they are, because comparing a 5th gen civic dx to a 4th gen civic dx in FSP trim, the 4th gen would be significantly faster. Better gearbox and 50-75lbs lighter while giving up a couple of ponies would be an excellent trade-off.
Civic ('88-'91) = CSP

Yup, CSP, best of the breed. You do get to put a D16 Si motor in it, and without a sunroof, it weighs less than an Si.

ok would it be competative in DSP?
weasel KP61:Ok let me take that back..... How competative would this car be in CSP?
On a regional level and prepped well it would be decent unless you have some of the top tier Miata's in your region. Nationally, you'd be doing really well to trophy. The CRX is a better choice and even the CRX's are having a difficult time keeping up with the miata's and toyota. Limitations of FWD and poor weight distribution compared to the other cars.
In theory if reading the rules and this thread correctly, it would be legal to take a 88 HF chassis and give it D16A6 running gear?
Thanks :)

The D16A6 is from a CRX? If so then the CRX would have to be on the same line as the Honda.
I would change the wording to "It would be a miracle to win in CSP with that Honda in CSP at the national level".

Um, the CRX is a Honda, its on the same line as the HF, and the swap is legal in CSP since all CRX's are on the same line. Built to the same level, the CRX will be lighter then a Miata and faster in a straight line. With the new tires on the market the CRX might be able get back up near the front. Win? Not sure, but will definitely trophy.

Um, yeah I realize that...
I didn't say a Honda. I said that Honda, referring to the one he is asking about. Not all CRX's are on the same line. Even the Hondas are on different lines.
