FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
FS: 1992 Nissan 240SX. Asking $18k. edit: Will consider a "regular" pickup in partial trade. Can deliver via enclosed transport within 450 miles of San Diego, can work out delivery for longer distances. Contact jason@mysterons.com
Bought in August 2005 in Portland, OR. Car has a clean history, no accidents. Prepped in Fall/Winter 2005 for the 2006 season in the SCCA's "Street Touring S" class. The car earned several wins that year, including the 2006 ProSolo and Solo2 National Championships held in Topeka, KS. This is the only 240sx to have ever won a ProSolo or Solo2 National Championship in the SCCA's history. Car was featured in June 2006 issue of Grassroots Motorsports. Prepped in Fall/Winter 2006 for 2007 season in SCCA's "Street Modified" class. Car is very fast now - 2560lbs., >400whp/wtq. Car has traveled exclusively by enclosed trailer to out of town events. All lights, blinkers, wipers, etc. are intact and functional. Registration is current in CA but car won't pass smog in this state unless you "know somebody". Purpose of this build is "grip", but the car would make a phenomenal drift machine with some smaller wheels and tires. It has the quick-ratio steering rack of the HICAS cars, and extremely good boost response. Would also make a great Time Attack machine with some track-type changes - a roll bar, and maybe some brake upgrades. Might want to change the intercooler out for non-sprint type races. My guess is it would run mid 11's in the quarter with some good drag tires. You could even street drive it outside of CA, the clutch isn't too bad now that it's broken in. On the autocross course, this thing is as fast or faster than just about any DOT-tired production-tubbed car, with the right driver. Selling because the build part is what's fun for me, and this one is done. Detailed threads of the buildup and thought process for the car: Part 1 - 2005/2006 STS build: http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=139581

Beautiful car. Too bad I am 3000 miles away. Getting out of racing or getting a new car?

Getting a new car, gotta move this one first.
If you're seriously interested in the car, we can probably work something out - I can get it to Kansas if you can get it the rest of the way...

I dispute this assertion. To prove that it is even in the ballpark you need to show up in Topeka and compete. Bawk! Bawk! Bawk!

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
Great, another fantastic car that, if my set up skills weren't limited to putting air in the tires, I'd love to have...lol
JK.
Jason, you really should showcase that bad boy at Topeka, like Andy suggested!!
In slow, out fast. In fast, out backwards.

Mike, I think you are selling yourself short on the setup, you'd be great in Jason's car. The performance/price ratio is incredible. Don't you miss driving a car that can accelerate?

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
Yeah Mike, this thing is half the cost of Andy's car and very close in performance - plus, you have in your region an expert in building fast turbocharged SM cars, who will be happy to help answer all your questions and work on dialing in the car with you. This car will be a monster at an AAS event.
Look back at the El Toro Pro results - on my seventh run in the SM car EVER, I put down a clean run about 1 second back from Andy's Saturday afternoon runs, only 7 tenths back from Erik. I can only wonder how much closer it would have been with one of those two, or perhaps even yourself, driving! There is a lot of potential in this car.
We had a local practice using the left-side course about a month after the Pro, and I put down the equivalent of a 40.8, despite a little bit of understeer and the grip being a bit lower (check out the video above). Not quite enough to catch Andy & Erik, but a killer SM time for sure! Throw a wing on this puppy and play with the shocks a little bit, and go kick Vic's butt!
edited to add: look up top, I lowered the price!

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
Not in the market for a new car right now. Just admiring yours. I passed the link on to some autocross buddies though.
I too love the challenge of building a car, don't understand why you want to sell it before you have had a chance to really learn to drive it.

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
^Don't let Jason kid you, he more than knows how to drive it...witness his being 2006 Pro and Nationals champ!
I'm just not ready to commit to a full blown autocross car...one of the reasons I started doing this stuff in 2005 was to get away from the costs (time and $$) of running a specialized car (even though that "specialized" car had been a vintage Formula Vee...about as cheap as you can get!). I sure would like to drive something that wild, though...
I also am putting the word out on both jzr's and boxboy's cars, to anyone who seems a likely, or unlikely, candidate

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
Hey everybody! J-Rho has lost his mind!! Car now available for $16k!!!!. That's less than I was asking in STS trim!! Got a line on my next ride and badly need the garage space.
This thing is WICKED fast in SM trim, and if you were nuts, all the parts are there to build a completely mad DSP car - just put the back seats in, a regular header where the turbo is, and re-tune the engine management. BAM!

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
Well, I busted the bidding cherry. Somebody better jump on this car soon...or I am going to have to figure out shipping to Iowa and look for some nice diamonds for my wife to ease her into the "I bought this awesome autocross car" discussion.

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
Thanks for doing that Cito.
I'll be doing another wave of message board marketing tonight, hopefully we can get some more bids to pop up during the day tomorrow. Unfortunately most serious eBayers I know wait until the last minutes (or seconds) of an auction before putting in their bid. For both our sakes, I hope it's not a nail-biter for you...

Re: FS: Fast Street Mod 240sx
I trust that you will end up with much more than I bid on it. But, if I am lucky enough to get it for what I bid, I will also be very happy. My wife, happy not so much. I might be sleeping in it, which means the cooler might get used for holding my Mountain Dew and bologna.
Its an awesome car. Good Luck!!!!
