It's a great site.  Very friendly and lots of useful information.  In '05 one of the members demolished his car in practice at Mid Ohio.  He was offered a car to be able to complete his dream of racing at the Runoffs but said thanks but he couldn't afford to pay for it if he wrecked again.  Within a day or two, a complete insurance fund had been set up at apexspeed by its members pledging money if something happened.

It was reported in Sportscar's write up of the Runoffs that year.
