Re: Registration for the Topeka Divisional at HPT is OPEN!!!!

I didn't see Saturday results until Saturday night at the banquet.  (Learned I had a cone call that was not previously aware of...that's my fault for not checking during the runs)  I was told by the event chairs that they are not required to show results to competitors in impound before releasing them, and why didn't I go find them.  News to me....I thought Divisionals had to be done like Nationals?

When I asked about this at the banquet, I was unexpectedly verbally toungue lashed by a certain event official because *I* held up the class from being released from impound for 40 minutes due to my protest.  (Never mind that it took them well over 20 minutes to actually locate the protest chief.)  I was little burned by this, but I was a gentleman, apologized and walked away in the interest of just having fun.  I think that certain event official should realize however that they were extremely rude, have really turned me off to how Kansas Region handles things and treats their guests, and had no right placing blame on my shoulders when I was following proper procedures and they were not.  I'm still burned by this, and am not looking forward to doing another KR event.

Re: Registration for the Topeka Divisional at HPT is OPEN!!!!

Heats 1 through 3 were not released until the results were available.  Heat 4 competitors, especially on Sunday, seemed to wander off whenever they felt like it.  The event chair was wrong in saying that, but so were the competitors for leaving.  I'm sure your attempt to protest yourself had some effect on the availability of results on Saturday.

By the way, unofficial results are available on the Kansas Region website.  They are hilarious.

I wandered off because it's the dumbest thing in the world for us to be sitting there in 100 deg heat for 30min when it's time to start packing up to get on the road.

Re: Registration for the Topeka Divisional at HPT is OPEN!!!!

Very cool,  I love that the 2 day time totals in some classes like AS match the finishing positions.Yes  I won third place by going faster than secondSurprise  I think Timing and Scoring got caught in a pattern buffer.

The PAX times are even more crazy then the class times.  Looks like the real results are being delayed for another time and placeDrinks

+2  I am with Dave on this.  IT was hot and late and we are stuck in grid while everyone one else is heading home.  I wandered out after I looked behind me and saw SS was all gone.  Smart guys, those Vette ownersStick out tongue

It took way too long to get the results out after the last heat Sunday.  I probably would have wandered off, too.

That explains why I never saw results before being released. :)

KS region wasn't too sharp on quite a few of those pesky divisional rules.  On Saturday, 2 driver cars were gridded away from the rest of thier class and sent out of order.   In ESP, everyone except the two two driver cars got a rerun on thier 1st runs.   They tried to send us out for second runs before the other 7 drivers had completed thier first runs. :(

On Sunday, they corrected the grid (thanks Mike) but we were still out of order and sent that way.  Not a big deal, but...

I also noticed that later in the 4th heat Sunday, grid told people to "just go when you are ready"  Wierd.

It is too bad that they did a pretty good job on about 95% of the stuff for an event, but then $hit it up with a stack of minor issues on simple stuff like results and lack of knowledge of rules.

    DaveW

(Has waived some divisional run order rules in my time too)

Not only are the posted Index Results sorted incorrectly, they used last year's factors.  :-(

LOL...so that's why we baked in the heat out at out corners while there were no cars at the line so often!  Funny.

Didn't mean to start a "Let's bash Kansas Region" deal here.  Many of their members are dedicated, and do a great job.  I mentioned one experience with one or two individuals.  (and did not mention any names.)  Hope the other Kansas Region members don't take this wrong.  Being that a Divisional qualifies you for Nationals though, it seems like the operational rules are supposed to be the same.  No biggy in the end.

Since I'll be the Kansas Region Solo chair next year (by default), I'm listening to all the comments to help make next year a better year. More open communications should help. Smile

Hopefully, HPT will cooperate and make it possible financially for us to hold events there next year. I'm guessing we won't hold too many events there next year, since we lost our shirts this year (we may have made money on the Divisional, but not enough to cover the other 4 events where we didn't).

What was the deal with getting booted at 6pm when the Drag Racers ran well into the night and even camped overnight at the site?  Kind of a double standard.  It was nice seeing all the Drag cars and the fact that we could go watch them between heats, but not when they were flying from the track exit and scales through our paddock to get to theirs.  Hurry, hurry before engine overheats.

Enjoyed the food at the Ramada Inn and especially the Solo courses!  Well worth the 11.5 hrs drive one-way.

Also, now that I think about it, most of the ladies classes ran when the same open class worked.  Heard a few complaints for that one.
