What kind of car do you drive?
Street Class has been VERY competitive from the first event we ever ran. Horsepower alone will NOT guarantee a victory, as we have seen 240hp S2000s win against 500hp 350z's.
Time Attack racing is geared more towards modified vehicles. Our events are venues for tuners, shops, manufacturers and vehicle owners to prove what they can do against other entries....restricted to the same rules. No vehicle stands a chance in its respective class if it is completely stock or near to stock.
We will not be creating any new classes for our Time Attack series in the lower divisions and we will not be taking power/weight ratios into account. The use of "Street" tires does a wonderful job of limiting the performance capabilities of cars.
If running in near stock vehicles with every competitor theoretically on a "level playing field" appeals to you, then Showroom Stock is maybe more up your alley. If you're the type of guy who wants to build a bad ass car, turbo charger, coil overs, gutted, R-Compounds, 300hp and go whoop some but against a VERY wide variety of cars, then Time Attack events are for you.
OR,.... get creative and find a class in SCCA you can race in and be competitive, then have a Time Attack engine you can drop in to do time attack events.. then switch back to the SCCA setup and do the road racing. We've seen that done before. Have the car pull double duty. :-)
