Jim G:
The B&S Raptor engine is listed as legal for both FJA and FJB. The rules don't seem to show any difference except that FJA with Raptor must weigh 280 and FJB 245. Why is the faster class (FJA) listed as heavier than the slower class? What do you have to do to make it legal to run in each class?
Thanks for any help.
I hope you have gotten the answer before this, but if not...
The Raptor is a holdover from the former four-class structure. It is not expected to be competitive with the Yamaha KT-100 or the Briggs World Formula engines. It is, however, "legal" to run. Regions with FJ drivers using the Briggs flatheads are welcome to continue doing so, and to class them separately, instead of grouping with FJA and FJB.
The weight differentials were made simply to try and even the compeitition WITHIN each class, as some of the older kids would be too big to meet a lower weight.
