    Huntsville, June 2-3

This is a public effort to get Ryland (aka "Ryan", aka "Bozunkle") Hemphill to attend.

The Huntsville National Tour is coming up and promises to be a good time. The site is a good one (very gentle on tires, which is particularly nice for Mini Cooper drivers) and it's not that far of a drive. Confirmed attendees are: Scott Main, Brian Whitmire, and myself. And I think that kid who drives the RX-7 is coming out.

Who else feels like joining the big leagues?

Man I would like to go, but I have to go to the "end of the road in south Louisiana" (don't tell the cajuns) to attend a WEDDING.  I can't wait.  Weddings should be held on Tuesday nights, nothing is happening then.  Who decided they should be on Saturday?  Surely not an autocrosser!

Some of you other guys need to go an supervise these guys, and buy beer for them.  I'll be somewhere way south of I-10 hopefully eating some really good food and drinking some Jax beer.

First of all, you love weddings. You talk about them all the time.

Secondly, nothing good happens in Louisiana this time of year. No reason to go down there.

Thirdly, you can buy beer for us remotely. Email me with your credit card number.

Lastly, buy Darryl's trailer and let's put the Mini and M3 in there for a trip up to Peru.

I was planning on making it up there, but 1) MR2 is still wrecked and 2) the local kart club isn't having any drops this year and a race is on the same weekend as Huntsville. so, fun....

    2007 BASE REGULATIONS

The Navy graciously lets Delta Region autocross at their base, provided we follow their rules. Base security requires Delta to sumbit a list of all drivers and spectators to enter the base. No one, and we do mean NO ONE, will be allowed to enter the base unless pre-registered. We can not "talk to security" to get anyone in.

We will be accepting online pre-registration ONLY (pre-register on DLB Racing's website: http://www.dlbracing.com). Drivers who pre-register are added to the base access list.

Passengers, spectators and any other persons must e-mail their information to delta_guest@charter.net. Please include the guest's full name (Last, First MI) and their driver's license number; if the person is a minor, please note that. If you think you might make it, go ahead and register to be on the list, just in case.

All persons MUST show a valid, state-issued ID to gain base access.

Pre-registration and the guest list will close the Wednesday, May 30th. The list of event participants and guests will be forwarded to NAS security first thing Thursday morning. No one will be added to the list after Wednesday evening.

All base access will be through the rear gate. Exception: those hauling a car on/in a trailer will be required to go through the front gate and have their car inspected. This does not apply for tire trailers.

Rear gate entrance hours will be from 6:00am until 6:00pm.

There may be other restrictions, so check online for the latest information.
    Base Etiquette:
    - Don't wander around the Base. We're allowed passage to and from the autocross site. The speed limit at the autocross site is 5mph (except on the track, of course).
    - Vehicles may be subject to search by Sailors/Soldiers with guns. Don't argue...Sometimes they just want to check out your car.
    - No firearms are permitted on Base. No, we won't bail you out either, so don't bring anything remotely suspicious.

I've got an extra hotel room (at the Holiday Inn, the official hotel for the event) that I need to cancel soon - anybody need it before I do? It's a double, non-smoking, and I think it's $79/night plus tax. I've got it for Friday and Saturday nights.

And you have to buy the beer, imported.

    Re: Huntsville, June 2-3

Well, Mr. Whitmire finished on the podium yet again, earning his second first-place National Tour trophy in less than a month. He won by some ungodly amount: 6 seconds?

I titled these next two pictures, "How James Spent His Saturday or: How James Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cone"

A certain FP 280Z driver could not make the dance, so his would-be co-driver, a carrot top out of scenic Utica, MS took a seat in the M3.

Here I am hitting the three wheel motion in a tricky little section.

You may wonder why we have different wheels on the back than I do on the front. After Lance's first run the right rear tire was leaking air quickly. A quick change to my regular old tires allowed us to get the rest of our runs in, but I was half a second off the pace and Lance even more so. On Sunday we had the tire plugged, but I couldn't quite put it together to make up the difference, and I ended up in second place, three tenths back. Lance rattled off the class' quickest time on Sunday, but he ended up about a tenth of a second out of the third place trophy spot.

Oh yes, while I do drive on Yokohamas for the time being, there was a Bridgestone rep on hand to answer your questions about rubber compounds and tread patterns. I didn't ask any of those questions, but I have a strange urge to buy some RE-01Rs.

    Re: Huntsville, June 2-3

No rain to speak of for the weekend. It threatened for our run group (3) on both Saturday and Sunday, but stayed dry.

Timing had some issues with STU's times (incorrect times/names being announced, times out of order, etc.) but they eventually got our best times correct so I didn't worry much about it.
