Factory-authorized ECU software update - Stock legal?

Factory-authorized ECU software update - Stock legal?

I've been out of the autocross loop for quite a few years, but planning to hit a few local events this year.  I'm not too worried about competitiveness, and probably not a big deal locally anyway, but wondering how this would affect classing:

My car is a 2007 VW GTI, with the DSG transmission, purchased in August '06.  A "Lauch Control" feature was supposed to be introduced for '07, even making its way into some advertising.  Alas, it did not make it into the car as delivered.  Crying  Cue the lawyer/insurance/warranty conspiracy theorists.

It turns out that the mechanical changes were done, but the software wasn't ready for production.  They finished it and the new software was introduced in production mid-year.

Since then, VW has published an optional Technical Service Bulletin that enables the feature on early '07s via an ECU software update.  My dealer happily performed the TSB at no charge.  Yes  Not a feature for everyday driving, but I like it because I can!

Would this be disallowed in Stock class as a "dealer-installed option"?  Or allowed, as a "conversion" to a factory-delivered configuration?  Or is my understanding of the rules just way out of date?

(Assuming it's Stock-OK, just which stock class is the new GTI in anyway?  I need to get a current rulebook! Embarrassed)
