Barnes Named SCCA Solo Nationals Chairperson

TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 30, 2006) - Sports Car Club of America is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathy Barnes to the position of Chairperson for the SCCA Solo National Championships.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to chair the 2007 Solo Nationals as we celebrate 35 years of competition," Barnes said. "I'm looking forward to developing a team to continue the success of the inaugural event at Heartland Park Topeka and to enhancing the National Championship experience for all our competitors."

Barnes is a previous Solo Events Chairperson and Board of Directors Secretary. In her new role, Barnes will be responsible for the appointment and instruction of various chiefs of specialty, devising methods to improve the event operation, updating supplementary regulations and the run/work order, as well as taking the reins for any other tasks that would make the event run smoothly.

"We are very privileged to have such a qualified person to be the next Solo Nationals Chairperson," said SCCA Director of Solo Tasha Marlow. "Having been a past Nationals Chief of Workers and Chief Steward and a Chairperson for numerous National Tour events she will bring an extensive background in event organization and volunteer management to the table."

The 2007 Solo National Championships are set to take place Sept. 25 - 28 at Heartland Park Topeka.
