    Re: 2010 Evo School

I really need to brush up on my AutoX (as if I was ever competent?!) and want to do Evo's school.  I'll be getting my kids AutoX'ing when they start driving and that ain't so far away anymore.  I hit the registration link but no response ... what's the cost of their schools?  Thanks

$275 per Phase. I'll check and see what is going on with the link.

Does anyone know anything when registration will be open?  It said the 15th, but I still don't see it when I go to try to add it to the shopping cart.  Any info would be... info Wink.

    God Bless,

    Jeff

Registration will open when the contract is signed.  That should  be very soon.

    brief hijack

Carl hit 15 over the summer. I was kind of dreading teaching my own kids how to drive, but its been fun (mostly). It has been a big learning curve since we don't have anything with an automatic. That has delayed getting too much seat time in real traffic as he still has a lot to think about beyond just getting down the road. Of our three cars he likes the Golf the best. The time I had him drive the XT was an eyeopener for him. I hope to get him to an autocross or two this summer, then maybe our school in 011. I figure the old rock hard street tires on the Miata will be a good learning tool. Plus there isn't a budget for anything racing this year.

    Hmmm............................................

    First autocross at 15

    Road racing at 16

    Racing champion at 17

Where I have heard that before? Get that kid in an autocross quickly! Follow that up with a Street Survival school quickly! Follow that up with a PDX quickly! Oh......................and buy a good torque wrench.

LOL!  I'll add that to the list as I don't think the one I have will stand up to his head.  Smile

I'll also need spares. Yesterday riding home from school he broke a crank arm on his mountain bike at the connection to the bottom bracket. Went to the HUB, they looked at it and said: "wow, never seen one break there before".

    Jeff,

Having the skills from a Phase 2 really helps with the Challenge school. Due to the unique situation here with us holding a Phase 1 and Challenge the same weekend, Mike and I are discussing the requirement for the Phase 2.

Did anything come out about this? I am curious about doing the Evo school.

I do have other questions... How much benefit would just doing Phase 1 be to someone who has two years of autocross under his belt, but is merely average skill? Is the Challenge this in any way going to improve my skill as well?

    Re: 2010 Evo School

Phase 1 is a benefit to everyone no matter how many years experience. I know I've said this many times before, but National Champions have taken Phase 1 after they have won a championship and found thay had picked up a bad habit or two so they found some more places to be faster. :)

I would say wait till you have had a Phase 2 before you take the Challenge school. In the Challenge, the focus is using the skills from Phase 1 and Phase 2 under the heat of competition.

Phase 1 it is. It's easier to convince the girlfriend to spend $275 instead of $550 anyway. :D
