Port installed wheel options for 09 VW Rabbit

I have been looking at purchasing an 09 Rabbit, and heard that they had some port installed 17x7.5 wheels. What kind are they and how light? Sounds like a great legal sizing upgrade...

the 17x7.5 and 18x8.0 were both port installed is what I was told. They both can show up on the marooney sticker (since I know people LOVE that window sticker....lol) as well.

The oem ones are heavy. Tirerack has stuff that's light and legal I believe. :)

Re: Port installed wheel options for 09 VW Rabbit

My son and I currently run an '08 Rabbit in HS. The 17x7.5 wheels are the only Port Installed Option available on the Rabbit. The 18's are dealer installed. (The Jetta offers an 18" PIO wheel). We have the gray 17x7.5 Goal wheels, which we bought at a dealer for $125 each. They weigh the same as most wheels in the $100-$130 range (about 18lbs.). You have to spend closer to $225-$300 a wheel to get into the 14lb. range. Stock offset is 50mm +/- 6mm. This is our first season in Solo, so we opted to run on Falken RT-615's, 235/40R17.

The "Price with options" function in Edmunds and MSN Autos limit choices to Factory and Port Installed options for VW's. I actually looked for an '08 Rabbit on a dealer lot with the 17" wheel option to confirm legality before we spent the money.

    Regards,

    Joe
