I'm having trouble figuring out what the legal wheel size would be on a 1988 VW Golf GL (4dr) in Stock class.

Is it a 13x5.5 or a 14x6?  I think some came with a 14x6 . . .

Have you tried some of the VW boards devoted to the "old skool" cars? None come to the top of my head right now, but I know they are a couple out there... (perhaps someone else knows a few???)

I hate to say it, but this is one reason why I personally supported the sunset rule. It just gets downright hard to find out what's legal from what's not on many older cars.

if you want to be sure not to get protested I would say use the size that is printed on the sticker of your door.  If you do go/ 14"'s you can TRY the argument that many mkII's came w/ 14"'s.
