T1 Camber Lockout Kit

    T1 Camber Lockout Kit

    When we got our car, only the left front had the 'kit' installed so when I got a new kit, I just mirrored what was on the left side.  Now, crawling around under the car, it doesn't make sense to me.  Only the front leg of the a-arm has the aluminum blocks (front and rear side of the leading leg of the a-arm).  There is nothing on the trailing leg of the front a-arm, meaning, nothing is 'locked out' at all.  The rear bolt still remains adjustable and therefore, subject to 'self adjusting' during a session if not torqued to the hilt.......

     Does this sound right to anyone?  I looked on the net for installation specs and found none. 

     If you are running the camber kit, and wouldn't mind, could  you forward pics to me?

    I think most everyone is using the lockouts on both the arms.  I run the lockouts on both the LF and RF to get the widest stance possible and then use shims on the upper arms to adjust for the best camber.  I don't know if that's the best way or not, but it seems to work well for me.

    The only reason I can think of for using lockouts on just one arm (of one side) is for caster adjustment...maybe...but that really doesn't make much sense either.  Maybe they just didn't know what they were doing??

    Just lock the lower arms out as far as they'll go and adjust the upper arms with shims if you need - too easy.

    Chris......

     That was my thought too, although talking with another T1 crew guy about the subject, he didn't think shimming upper arms was legal (if it doesnt say you can, you cant rule)........

     As for the previous owner, that was Evan......am pretty sure he knew what was what.  Unless something got rearranged between him and us prior/during/after the sale of the Vette.  Am going to rearrange the shims to where they really work the way they were intended.

    There's nothing illegal about putting shims in between the upper A-arms and the frame - that's simply an alignment and most of the stock Vettes have a few shims in there anyway.

     It changes a few other things to get adjusted like roll center and bump steer.. But The camber gain probably offsets those losses (or gains)
