Thanks Chris! I got pretty lucky on my 3rd run and everything just went well. I promise it won't happen every time Are you running any tours this year? I'm going to run up in Milwaukee, and if I can find a ride for Atlanta (in an 07 Cooper) I'd like to run down there as well.... with all the smack talk going on about that event, it sounds like fun!!!

Shawn, we haven't met, but congrats on your rippin 993 on index Sunday! Wow.
BTW, don't do that too many times or something bad may happen to the hs index...
Chris
BTW Chris, you and I need to talk. Gimme a call (859) 509-0109. I see you are running a different Civic now.
Also, there are only 8 signed up for the Atlanta NT, we need more peoples. The competition oughta be good, seeing that Justin, Jeff Jacobs, Jack Burns, Joe, Wes and I will all be there. Shawn, Jeff Jacobs doesn't appear to have a co-driver signed up yet in his 08 Cooper. Might wanna call him and see if you can rent a seat from him if you don't want to drive to the event. Anyone know if they are having a T&T on Friday there or not?

So who is coming up to Devens besides those that are already entered? Our 6th weather chief in 6 Tours (we fired the previous 5) has promised that there will be no rain.
Right now it is a couple of 3's, Mini, Focus, Eclipse, Civic, and Jetta Wagon with 8 drivers.

Ron, not sure what the redline really is for the cars, or whether it changed between years, but my "rough estimate" for top of 2nd at 6750rpm is: 02 56mph, 05 51mph, 07 55mph. If the increased torque spec is correct for the 07, it matches the 05 for peak acceleration and has a higher top end. Hmmm...
All calculated for 22.6" tire. Not that I've looked at the numbers or anything...lol.
Cheers
Chris

Cooper, right? NOT Cooper S?
My '04 MCS is indeed running 10mph/1k rpm in 2nd with 24" rolling stock (capable of 65mph) - Cooper is geared lower though I do believe.

Thanks for the replies Chris and Charlie. I'm indeed lnterested in the cooper not the S but it sounds like they aren't that far apart at redline. I think your redline assessment is pretty close though. The optimal in my opinion is 57-60 mph with the race tires just wondering which one will get you there. Some GPS aquired data with track maps would be the optimal, you would have to guess or use formulas just look at the data.
Thanks for all your help guys

Yeah! Big diverse classes and friendly folks are making this class a lot of fun.
The Subie guys felt that this wasn't a very good course for them, but I think they are just slow and whiney.

Thanks Scott and to everyone for the PM's and phone calls. I really appreciate them.
I'm still in a state of shock about it. The car just seemed to be doing everything WRONG...and I mean that but did everything right when asked. It made bad noises (sway bar link loose) and was not handling the way it should (Wes can verify this), then after finding and correcting the problem, the cooler in the trunk fell over on the way to the hotel while testing the bar...(still laughing about that) and then, found that the strut inserts are moving around in the housings causing a bunch of other noises. Needless to say, the ride home was not to be forgotten. But in the end, the car was rockin and it still has hopefully some more tricks up its sleeve. Now I just have to figure out how to keep up with the car more.
I had to charge the phone three times over six hours from all the phone calls and I was pretty much overwhelmed with my results. My boss even called once he heard and congratulated me.
This is a VERY TALENTED class of people. Not just in their driving, but their personalities and sportsmanship. I really enjoy competiing in this class now. I guess the next test will be in Peru on the concrete and hopefully, we'll have a good showing there...and hopefully, a suspension that is working properly.

Hmm, maybe you should beat the Subie before calling us slow and whiney.
Big congrats to Scott and, despite the result, I had a good time seeing and competing with everyone there. I got to see some people that I hadn't seen, or competed against, in a while.
Hopefully the next course will be something that I think the Subaru will like more. I figured things would be course dependent at times but never figured I woiuld be 2 seconds off the pace, per day. Looks like we still have some work to do. That said, I absolutely love competing in a class with so much diversity in cars.

YEAH! NICE GOING SCOTT!!!
At least you didn't have the police escort on the way out this time either! Now of course we have to find out how an HS car could be going that fast on the street and still be legal .
Great showing and hope you keep it going. Come to Milwaukee for the July NT and let's all get together for a pre-Nats gathering!
