Yeah, Blytheville is an idyllic spot...just ask the 25% of the population that has fled the town over the last 5 years, due to no jobs and high crime rates...

OK, I'm just pissed because you guys are all supporting a spot which is a frickin' long way from where I am...and, the only ones who seem to support the site seem to live relatively close by...hmmm, maybe there's some type of correlation, there...

We ain't lookin' for jobs, we're lookin' for a place to autocross.

I understand the concern about distance, but I don't think we're exactly getting knocked down with options..

Exactly. There is damn near nothing west of Topeka until one looks into the mountains or further west. Frankly, I am amazed that Las Vegas Speedway is not on the wish list. Look, this is boiling down to have SOMEWHERE that is REASONABLY centered in the USA for Solo Nationals. Topeka is geographically terrific --------------- if one wants to play Russian Roulette in a sand box.

Blytheville saves us a couple hundred miles.  Still, I think about how far it is for someone from seattle (2300 miles-ish).  That's like us driving to Las Vegas.

If nationals were in Las Vegas, I wouldn't go.  Unless I could fly in for a co-drive.

Therein lies the rub...to paraphrase Will Shakespeare...

If Nationals requires either coast to make a 2000 mile plus tow, it won't end up being "Nationals" in anything other than name, ultimately. But, if we're talking about making one coast tow that distance, it makes much more sense to hold Nationals in the southwest to at least provide a more consistent climate and maximize odds of having dry weather...so, Nevada or Utah (Las Vegas, Wendover, SLC/Miller Motorsports Park), Arizona (Phoenix/Tucson), New Mexico (I wonder...), Texas all make more sense than Blytheville, AR...the fact that all of those states are 1000 miles closer to me has nothing to do with my opinion...Tongue Tied

Seattle is a long way from every possible location other than Seattle.  You could conceiveably host the Nationals on the West Coast and still have a 1200 mile tow for the Seattle crew (San Diego).

Phoenix or Las Vegas?  Please.  That's like the east--coast guys suggesting Atlanta or Pittsburgh.

The locals don't have an opinion, we have been pummeled about the head and sholders for saying what we think. So saying that I'm ready for some more pummeling. I think  that the city and state should have invested 25 percent  of the money that was earmarked for HPT and instead built a perminant site over at forbes where land was earmarked for us.

I don't have solid numbers to prove it but I believe that the economic impact to the city is much higher for the solo nat's than it is for the runoffs. The majority of the solo competitors stay at the local hotels and we use the resteraunts and the expocenter for all of the banquets.

Could do something like what is done for the Canadian nationals.

Have it in the "east-central" US one year, then in the "west-central" the following.  If a contract is required - sign up for a similar 3 year term but alternating.

Sure, a lot could happen in the 6 year timeframe - but at least it would equal out the "screwing."
