    Civic Needs Classed

I've been autocross running in the NS class since Janurary and want to get my car classed. I put my car in FM but, after pouring over the rulebook, I'm not sure that's acurate. Before I continue driving in FM I want to make sure I'm in the right class so I don't get DSQ'd in the future should a conflict come up from another driver. I'm not out to cheat anybody or anything so help me out please.

Here's the beast and it's specs:

    1997 Honda Civic DX Hatchback

stock 1.6L SOHC engine, intake manifold and TB

    AEM CA intake system

aftermarket header and exhaust system with both O2 sensors, cat delete

    15 x 7 rims, 205-50-15 street tires

Eibach springs and struts, Energy Suspension polyurathane bushing master kit

rear seats, rear belts, spare tire, cover and jack all removed

Thats the meat and potatoes but the three that concern me most is the 1.6L displacement, lack of a real cat conv and the lack of rear seats. I want to develop the car to its full potential for the class it is in, as soon as I figure out what class that is exactly. Also if I put the rear seats back in and keep it catless would that be enough to put me in a different class? (I have no intention of getting a cat put on as it would mean rebuilding the entire exhaust $y$tem to accomodate one)

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Re: Civic Needs Classed

Right now you are in Street Mod.

The cat delete takes you out of the ST classes.  Put the rear seat and belts in and you are legal for SP.  I don't know enough about Honda's, if the DX is a VTech car it is DSP if not it is FSP.

Unless you are talking about some other club your car could never be in FM...  unless you somehow made it into a VW powered open wheel car or a chainsaw powered banshee...

Just like Keith said, find out if your Civic has Vtech or not, mine has it so I'm in DSP and oh yea put your seat back in and have fun.

STS is by far the best class for your car. You'd need to put the seat back in and add a cat though.

I don't think your car is legal for FM. SM (Street Mod) currently or SP if you put the seat (and belts) back in.

    Re: Civic Needs Classed

Well it looks like FSP it is. The car is a non V-tech (which is why I thought it was an F class something). I'm going to get the seats and all related bits back in today and re-class it FSP on my registrations.  Thanks all for your advice.

As far as STS goes, yes it may be nice but the competition in that class is just as fast as comparable SP class cars (or any other class for that matter) and I'm not going to spend the money on a whole new exhaust set-up that will not exactly increase my chances of success. Now that I know for sure what it is I'll flip through the rules and see what I can do to maximize it's chances in FSP class as far as mods are concerned.
