I like them… A few of the other top guys had car and tire issues so I’m not 100% sure these results are normal… The crappy surface and cooler weather favored the street tire guys too…

There is a set of lightly used Bridgestones for sale here (posted today) - for a good price. I would jump on those if I hadn't just bought 2 sets of Yoko ADVAN Neovas - which I really like so far - much better than the stock Contis (terrible tire). I have not tried the other tires mentioned here though.

 I agree the Conti's are one of the worst performance tires I have used. I think they are a great daily driver tire though. I have a few different sets of the factory wheels that I have picked up and the car sits on the 18's wrapped with the Conti's for regular use. I havent tried the Yokohama and based on the quotes I was given I think I am going to pass on them.  How do the Yoko's handle the heat or have you not run them enough to tell?

I've only got one event on them so far and it was prety cool (mid 60s). I am sure they will work fine for me though - just my second season and we have a pretty long time between runs usually. My M3 feels much more surefooted then on the butter based Contis. But, I have never read anything bad about the Yokos. Many consider them the best - though I know everyone is pretty excited about the Dunlops. I figure for a relatively new racer, it really isn't going to make a whole lot of difference if I am riding on the best or 3rd best tire - just so long as I am not on one of the worst anymore.

I'm trying to make the same decision regarding tires for an E46 M3. This is my first year in SCCA autox running in AS street tire class. I've about decided to go with the Dunlop Star Specs but am unsure about the sizes for the 18x8f/18x9r wheels. It would appear that 245f/275r would be appropriate for the rim widths but I still have that 30mm stagger which is obviously not ideal. Suspension is stock except for an H&R 30mm front sway and I've pulled the pins in the strut hats to maximize what little negative camber is available. Can I use a wider tire on the front 18x8 rim,maybe a 265/275 or 265 square setup? I intend to write the SEB as well to ask that the STU exclusion be lifted. It's a very competitive class locally but at least I can address some of the car's handling issues (after I become more consistent myself). I'm doing the Evolution Phase 1 & 2 schools in July and will need tires by then I'm sure.
