    Help me class this car

    1988 Porsche 911 carrera targa.

Totally stock other then the following

16x7 wheels in the front 16x8 in the rear. I know that this would normally bump this car out of a stock class. This size configuration was an option for that year of 911 across the car line. It was a standard option on the same year Turbo.

Also, there is a SSI exhaust/heat exchanger install. Add to that a Dansk sport muffler. I know that the rules state that everything downstream from the cat is free game in the stock class, my question is what is free game for a car that has no cat at all?

The way that I am reading the rules the wheels are ok because of the options offered by the dealer at the new sale. Also the exhaust is ok because the heat exchanger is of the same configuration and size. and that everything else is free game because there is no cat....

SO am I right or am I wrong\

    BS or BSP?

Re: Help me class this car

If the wheels were truly a factory option, not just a dealer installed upgrade, then they are legal.

The exhaust manifold cannot be replaced in Stock, but everything south of that is fair game, so the muffler is fine.

The heat exchanger is probably not a legal replacement, unless the OEM part is no longer available (which I seriously doubt).

Re: Help me class this car

    Stock class rules

13.10  E. Any part of the exhaust system beyond (downstream from) the
header/manifold or catalytic converter, if so equipped, may be
substituted provided the system meets the requirements of 3.5.
Stainless steel heat exchangers are permitted only if the physical
    dimensions and configuration remain unchanged.

     Emphasis added

A 1988 car with no Cat?  I thought they were mandated before that.

I was wrong. The exhaust he installed was a total system. with it he lost his cat. So he is now BSP
