I also enjoyed the course... I'm kind of partial to events that I'm in the mix at though... LOL. Course like this that flow and are heavily speed management favor our car (as well as the car Tim) was driving. Good event for me to knock the rust off at!!!! It's pretty cool to have a car ready to go at the beginning of the season, this is a new experience, I feel like we should have a list of like 10 things to do before the next event, and be pulling/buying parts to repair the car... the list of things to do now is just some maintenance stuff, pretty sweet!

Ahh, the famous rev-limter-less ECU! How many times did you almost grenade 3rd gear on east course at nats last year!?!
Sounds like I missed a good event. I got a lot done though. Finished SCCA #1 deposit and audit. Ah, the fun side of solo chair........

Both Craig and I tried to put it into 3rd gear using the brake instead of the clutch on our first runs... Craig's second run he used the clutch, but used 1st instead of 3rd!!!! After that we decided we would just go with the ECU that we couldn't mess up with....

I was grabbing 3rd gear between the two 3 cone slaloms, not sure how fast I was going but it sure felt fast. Fun runs were nice at the end, glad I got the suggestion to adjust my shocks, ended up running a 56.072 which would have been good to take index. I should really learn how to adjust shocks one of these days, esp. since I own nice ones now.

Yeah, that was interesting to watch to say the least. That motor revved so high and the tires just locked up after a bit. Can't believe it is still alive....

That was a tricky area last year. I remember Ben and I debating what to do. I think our gameplan to start was to grab third before the slalom and that way we could concentrate on the slalom itself and not shifting. In the end, I think we just banged the limiter in second gear.
Much like your "Peru 2005 corner" that you paced off, I have always wanted to recreate that East Nats 07 slalom entry in Milwaukee to get practice at it.

I had an awesome time, and the slalom in the back stretch was a blast! So much speed through that section, helped me shave my times to a final 60.409. Not bad for the 2002 Civic Si on street tires! I was shocked at how well the car took the course. Chris thanks for the ride along, it really helped me to get my mind set for the final run. Too bad Mike beat his original time by almost 1/2 second... Oh well i am still hoping to take at least one win in STX over Mike's WRX! I love being able to compete with someone as skilled of a driver as him! Here is the vid of my last two runs. Sorry for the wind noise i am currently saving up for a Datatoys dual cam system with remote microphone. http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/?action=view¤t=WAI.flv

cbailey:I had to grab third gear in the same spot as Colin between the two slaloms. When your second gear tops out around 53mph, there's just too much on the table not to. ;) Doubt I've ever been in 3rd gear that long though...
Chris,
I analyzed our data a little more from the MaxQ. Shifting to 3rd was a good decision most likely. We both topped out at 57mph (4mph higher than rev limiter) and were above 53mph for about 3 seconds. That's 3 seconds we would have been banging off the rev limiter at 53mph. We never tried 2nd gear through the whole thing for a true time comparison, but I've got to believe it was the right decision.

nice video!
Both you and your girl were flying on street tires. (don;t tell anybody but my better half & I have matching cars...)
I hope you got a nice, clean run with my lucky "no cones" magnet, while I hit my only cone of the day without it!
See you next time!

MaxQ said 63.7 mph is the fastest I got through the slalom on my fastest clean run. My fastest dirty run was only 61.9 mph, but I was about 0.2's faster, mostly because I was smoother in a couple sections.
Seen a peak of 1.33g's in the left hander before the slalom (on Bridgestone RE-01R's), that number seems a little high to me. I did see regular peaks of 1.26g on that corner though... so I was consistant, even if the number is wrong.

That's amazing Jason. No wonder those little econoboxes are fast. Chris and I didn't get much over 1.15G's Sunday. The most I got last year on Hoosiers on my car was around 1.3G's.
Can you send me your best run data file? I'd like to compare runs. whitet777 at yahoo dot com.

I am feeling left out, I really need to get a MaxQ at some point. I would have been very interested to see how fast I was going by the end of the slalom.
