So next week I'm picking up a C5...sadly, not for myself, but for my brother-in-law who is surprising my sister with it for her birthday.

Any advice on tying it down?  I've got the G-Force combo ratchet/axle straps like these:

You should really get a set of t-hooks.  Go to northern tool and search for item 3309048.  Inserting these into the four frame rail slots is by far the best way to tie down a C5.  You might be able to get away with putting the axle straps through the wheels, but I don't know how advisable that is, although I did tow my S2000 that way for a while.  Wrapping your axle straps around the lower control arms might work too, but the t-hooks are still the best way to go.

I know there are other sources, but this is a quick example.  I bought mine from a local towing supply house...called a local wrecker and asked him where he buys his t-hooks, j-hooks, etc.

I got mine from Mac's Custom Tie Downs www.macscustomtiedowns.com They have the T, J and R hooks individually, as well as all-in-one. Very high quality.

thanks, Steve...I've got a Northern Tool right down the street...I'll see if I can pick some up

I'd like to avoid using the wheels...wasn't sure what sort of options I'd have to wrap around or hook onto underneath

One last word of caution: the t-slots are in the frame rails along the rockers of the car (read, all are within the wheelbase of the car).  So, you need more length in the tie down straps than "normal" to reach your trailer's D-rings, at least when doing a criss-cross tie down.  The 6' straps I used for my S2000 were too short and I think I ended up buying 15' straps, which are a great plenty.

Brought the car to Greensboro from Atlanta yesterday.  The t-hooks and my 8' straps worked flawlessly.

I take it to Philly Monday for my sister...enjoying having it in my garage in the interim
