    Bridgestone outdoes themselves again...

It has been well documented in the past about how well Bridgestone treated all of people who ran Bridgestone tires at Nationals w/ posters, framed pictures, ad with the winners on the rear cover of Sports Car, etc.  The icing on the cake was an expense paid trip to the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach for the 4 ST* class winners and a guest!  We just got back yesterday from the trip and what can I say, it was amazing!

Hotel rooms at the Hilton right on the ocean, grandstand tickets for Fri-Sat-Sun, paddock passes for Fri-Sat, tickets into the hospitality tent on Sunday, dinner at the hotel on Saturday night, dinner at a great seafood/steak restaurant on Sunday (Caption Jack's), and tickets to the Champ Car party on the Queen's Mary on Sunday night.  It really was a great time, way more than I expected... I was happy thinking we were going to get an airplane ticket and tickets to Sunday's race!

Just when we think it's over, Sunday night at dinner they present each of the winners with a framed copy of the ad that was on the rear cover of Sports Car magazine, and it's autographed by all of the professional drivers who also won on Bridgestones last year!!!!  Kimi Raikkonen (F1), Casey Stoner (MotoGP), Sebastian Bourdais (Champ), James Stewart (AMA Supercross)... Pretty sweet thing to cap off the extended weekend!

I'll post some of the pictures I got when I get them off the camera... wish I would have gotten more, but the weekend just flew by.

Wow!  They are treating us little guys really well!

Did anyone else notice Bridgestone's full page add in the May issue of Sportscar?  They're offering a $100 rebate to SCCA members who buy a set of 'Stones between June 1 and Aug 31.

That is quite a nice perk.  Color me green with envy.  Congratulations.  I'll have to remember to use the Stones next time I win a national.Wink

That's awesome.  I'm really happy to see some more manufacturers step up and really support the sport.

Too bad they aren't making R-comps anymore since I'm not running on street tires these days.

    Re: Bridgestone outdoes themselves again...

Yup, Bridgestone has really stepped up and provided all of us in the Solo/Street Touring community with something that I haven't seen out of any other tire manufacturer in a long, long time, if ever. I've only been doing this 19 years. When I first heard about the new tires and contingency over a year ago, I was excited about it. Then they signed on some of the top drivers helping them in many different ways during the year. They attended 3 different National events across the country with full support including tire mounting, tire delivery, a cute umbrella girl, and lots of smiles! It just kept flowing with the framed pictures of each person's car, the Nationals Tuesday night party, the SportsCar ad, and poster showcasing most of the Street Touring entries running on the RE-01Rs. Then when it came down to the National Champions who ran on Bridgestones, the thank-yous and respect from Bridgestone was nothing short of amazing. And for them to come back and do it all over again for another round is even better. I just want to publicly give them a big thank you once again and can't wait to win on Bridgestones for a long time to come.

My question is...why would anyone run on anything else when things like this are offered and given opportunities like this?

And to Jason, Amy, Michelle and to their guests, thanks for the fun time! Hopefully we can do it again this time next year!

Especially when it has proven to be the fastest STS/STS2 tire, and last longer than any other competitive tires.

Simple. Not offering the "right" sizes for everyone.

Your question maybe should be: ...why would anyone running a SpecCivic run on anything else...?

I don't have a SpecCivic...  I dont have any delusions of winning Nationals, but I do want my car as fast as it can be for what it is (and I absolutely believe that it is cabable of getting a trophy at Nats).  For me running "civic" tires on a nearly 10% heavier non-civic isn't the answer.  They BS choices that could work on my car are (too) narrow or (too) tall.  If they had made a 215/45-16, a 215/40-17, a 225/45-15 etc. I would certainly have given them my support--because I agree 100% that it is nice to receieve all of the love that they are spreading within our community.

That said, I am in the brand "D" camp this year, and despite the lack of love there--it too seems to be a damn fine tire.

Agreed 100%. The support has been amazing. Thanks Rodderich, Josh and the rest of the Bridgestone team.
