    Muffler

My son's kart (which we haven't had to an autocross yet but will shortly) uses the KT 100.  It has the standard 4 hole exhaust on it.  It's pretty loud and some of our sites have sound restrictions.  Is there an additional or substitute muffler that is commonly run to quiet the kart engines down at sensitive sites?  If so, where can I purchase one?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks,

    Jim

I can't help, I only know of the specified 4-hole can and an airbox silencer.

But I am curious about the site.  What is the sound restriction?  I'd be surprised if any KT100 setup for the rules wasn't meeting a normal (~90dB) requirement.  I'd love to know how loud the kart is, if you get a chance to measure it.

I just spoke with the youth steward.  He said no kart has ever had a problem with the sound restriction.  This is at Ft. Devens in MA.    As for the specific restriction, I can never remember them from site to site.  I just know how many plates I need in my Supertrapp for a particular site.  I think Devens is 90 db at 75'.
