They already were to fit the 195/60R14 RT-215's on the car.  I think next year, partly because funds are tight and partly because it'll be a learning year I'll run out a set of 195/50 'kooks first.  See how it feels, how it handles and whether or not it's got a sno-balls chance to make it.  May make the move later in the year to a set of the 'stones if I can pick up another set of 15x6.5 wheels cheap enough.

If you get more wheels you better be getting at least 15x7s  

Bob, drive that *** over to my house. Lets try all of my wheel/tire combos on the car and see what fits best. I have 15x7, 15x7.5 in two different offsets and 16x7. All of them are 4x100. Is that the right bolt pattern?

Edit: BTW, the 16x7 set that I have has 205/40/16 Azenis mounted. They are physically the smallest of the wheel/tire combos that I have. I bet they will fit.

NOPE.  4x114.3, 4x4.5.  I know the 15x6.5 with teh 195/50 and a 35mm offset was PERFECT.  That's what is on the Accent (only a dual bolt pattern).  The wheels I'm trading my Konigs for are 4x4.5, 38mm and 15x6.5.

It'll be a while before she's driveable!  Since the head will be off tonight.

Bob, while you are up in Fishers, you can try my 265/35/18x9 Yokos too. The offset is so big they might even clear your fenders.... open wheel Swift!

Tonight, pulled the last 10 bolts and one hose.  Head is off:

Cylinders are not bad, but you can see a little scoring and there is a definite ridge at the top of each cylinder.

That was the good news.  The bad: at least 3 bent exhaust valves.  One enough it's touching the head in a spot where it shouldn't be.  It's rough.  Rougher than I expected.

So, is the thinking (and excuse my ignorance), that the timing belt broke (or slipped) and that caused the valves to bend? Does this simply mean you need a 3 new valves or is there more to it? Cams, pistons OK?

I didn't realize the antifreeze went around the cylinder like that - is that standard? (I have no practical experience, but for the last few years I have watched all the car shows I can find) I almost feel like I understand how your engine is put together from these pictures. Very interesting stuff. Good luck!

The wife bought teh car with the timing belt off and the tensioner apart.  The story she was told was that the car was running rough and the timing was off so he stoped and noticed the t-belt loose.  He started to tear it apart and that's where he stopped.

Looks like the truth was, teh t-belt came loose while it was running and before it could stop spinning the pistons made contact with at least 3 valves.

If I were you, I would replace all the valves if that's the case. No need risking doing all that work and just replacing a few you think were damaged.

The previous owner probably had the T-Belt lose some teeth instead of just snap....that seems more likely to me.

So, I got curious why this seemed odd to me - I have never had my hands inside an engine before (I did install an S/C on my 325Ci without a problem, but that is my only experience). From an image search, many engine blocks have a different design with the antifreeze running in parallel channels rather than going 'around' the cylinders. Brian, I think your Honda engine has the same around the cylinder pattern. I guess on the car TV shows they really just show the massive V8s so maybe that is why it looked different to me.

Looks like a nice engine to work on - not too complicated and plenty of room. (For my SC install the hardest part was how extremely tight the engine bay was - very painful hands and wrists.) Bob, if you are pulling the valves, please post some pics of the bent ones. Were the piston heads damaged at all from the valve collision?

Yeah, some of them will have a different look (closed deck vs. open deck (like Bob's pics)), but they're all going to have a lot of coolant circulating around the cylinders. Unless you're looking at an air-cooled VW or something.
