Congrats on finally having your tiny dream car... now what are the plans? Is it road worthy or in need of more than a rear seat? How long until we see you ramming cones with this little guy?

 

BTW stashed cash enough to buy a car? Can I come over and clean your couch of any loose change...

Ouch! Even people that don't know Bob are ripping on him.

We need more details on the car, Bob. What is the condition? What are the plans? Which class - STS? Timeline?

Like Scott says, you can always bring it out without the seat and run in SMS officially while comparing to HS or STS (or maybe there is a lower PAX class that would allow seat removal - SP? P?) until you get a seat. I am anxious to see what you can do with this car. This car is screaming for a big, tall wing in the back - and flame shootng pipes off the side!

Next year.  That's the goal.  The Elantra will finish up this year and go into retirement status as a fun DD that gets me 33mpg. 

Yes, go-kart it is. . .jacked it up yesterday and the back felt like I was just jackuing up the jack with nothing on it!  Emptied the stema cleaner 4 times on the seats, 3 times on the carpet and the seats are getting AT LEAST one more scrubbing.  Passenger seat looked like someone spilled an entire coke into it and left it.

Good news: Chassis is stiffer than I thought it would be.  It's only sitting one 3 stands, the 4th is a little different height than it's partner in the back and the car isn't touching it. . .interior is solid, no P/S and A/C from the factory and not heavy sunroof.  Has a nice billet short shifter (fantasmic shifter feel).  4-2-1 header and a Catco 2.25" cat already installed and a nice front strut bar.

Bad news: Rockers are GONE.  T-belt is not on the engine, and that could be a bad sign.  Door locks do not function, at all and there's somethign funky going on with the ignition switch.

I look at it that I have 12 months to get it into STS trim, even if I've been told "It's been done and it doesn't work." by the ITB Swift owner.  If STS don't work, we'll find us another class but 1700-ish pounds and 100+hp (car was dyno'ed 16 months ago, 93hp at the wheels) by the time I'm done is  fun, I don't car how you look at it!  Now I need to find myself a nice discount from PD LLC!

And I just couldn't wait to try my Konigs!  Looks like I'm gonna need a smaller tire though.  225's rub in the rear!

225's might not be the "happy size" for that car......there is such a thing as too wide of a tire. ;-)

Ouch......looks like a rebuild on the engine. I am guessing multiple bent/broken valves. Perfect time to build it to Bobzilla specs.

Other than that....looks like it has cleaned up pretty good for a Metro. lol

195/45, 205/40 or 205/45 are the sizes I'm looking at.  I was planning on a new set of tires for the Konigs by next season regardless.  Now I can plan on the size for this car.

 It had some seriously bald (cords showing) 195/60R14 Falken RT-215's on some PCW wheels.  So I guess I have options if I want to stay with the stock sized 14's.

I know, but I don't have 15" wheels and I really really likethese 16" Konigs.  While it's my "race car" I still want it to look decent. I would feel bad showing up at Nationals in '09 with an ugly car.

Just give in and go with it. People only look at my car AFTER we make runs in it You really think the Swift is going to win some car shows? Give up, you'll feel better.

They're looking for the loudener you installed in the exhaust !!!  No car shows, just something that makes ME proud. . besides, I can get the RE-01R's in a 205/45/16 and the Michelin PS2's in 195/45/16.

Stock tire size was a 165/65/14, so everything is going to be taller, which helps offset the shorter final drive.  The GTi's got a 4.31 final drive compared to the 3.XX of the standard swift.

On a side note. . . I want to keep better tabs of my progress with this car, more so than any other project I've ever started.  I had thought about a webpage dedicated to that, but I have no idea where/what/how/when to go about such a task.

You can create a blog here on SCCAForums pretty easily.

I wouldn't go too tall on tires. That engine is going to need a lot of RPMs to make any power.

BTW, buy some arm restraints. That's what I did in my Swift GTi the first time it went two wheeling.

You can include pictures in your blog entry, but we don't allow photo gallery uploads anymore. I highly suggest investing $20/year in Flickr, I have 13k+ photos there, unlimited uploads and hosting for $20 a year is great!
