I have a MS3 that I plan on racing in DS this season.  The biggest problem with the MS3 is the rim size, they come in 18x7, which makes it very difficult to find an inexpensive lightweight replacement for this.

 Mazda makes a Mazdaspeed rim that they offer as one of the options with this car.  Its size is 18x7.5, if I bougt this rim could I pass it as a stock rim?

Factory option, or dealer-installed accessory?  That distinction makes all the difference.

Updated: I looked on the Mazda web site but I can't find any optional wheels for the Mazdaspeed3.

the ms wheels are not a factory option, so no go on those.

in my searches, besides going custom, the kazera kz-v was the best bet. ~130 a rim, 18.8 lbs, 18x7 +50

on the downside, it seems tirerack has put them on closeout so once they are gone, who knows what people can turn to without spending too much

07 Mazdaspeed 3

The Mazdaspeed3 rims are an option.  They're in the mazdaspeed3 brochure.  Regardless, what I did was go pick up another set of rims, cheap Konigs for everyday driving.  It kills me cause I hate to drive around a car that looks modified, but owel.  So the Konigs will be the daily drivers with the stock bridgestone potenza tire on there and the OEM wheels will be the track wheels.

 

The rims are an option.  However, they are a dealer installed option and not a factory option.  I called Mazda Competition to verify that for my brother, who also owns a Mspeed3, and was told the wheels were not a factory option.
