Newport Pro Solo - April 12/13

See a couple of our guys, Whitmier and Rottenberry, got to sniff at the trophies as they past under their noses.

One out isn't bad for your first try guys.

ProSolo is a lot tougher than it looks, isn't it?

As Brian's designated R-comp carrying vehicle as well as the taxi for the weekend, I have to say both he and Chris did very well, despite the fact that the entire site smelled like feces most of the weekend because of the sewage treatment plant right next to the airport.  Chris was able to compete very closely with the Shelbys, and Brian ran competitively in SS against vehicles with 2-3 times the power and that you could fit the Lotus in the trunk of (C5 and C6 Z06s).

funny story, I pulled up to the tree on my first run on sat and watched howard duncan for a "ready?". Right about this time I see a couple yellow lights blink and then a green light come on. all told it came in at a 4.7 sec reaction time. that was not a good start to the weekend. I screwed that one up pretty badly. Once I figured out that the tree was on a shot clock I was beating the vettes to the 60 ft mark by about .3 seconds though. Oh well the doublex is just about a month away. Anybody else wanna go to that one?

Hey. I wasn't being critical or derogatory ------ More like a left handed compliment.

As I was scrolling through the results I saw a number of names I know, some I've known for years (and the faces that go with the names).

Many of these names/faces are pretty dang tough competition --- just down right hard to beat.

So maybe Chris and Brian got their noses shined --- better than their butts waxed - but THEY WENT AND COMPETED.

Yes, going to the events and competing is the first step...

Now I want to win some of these damn things despite my so-called "Shelby Envy"!!!! lol

No offense taken. I didn't drive particularly well. I did put down the fastest time in class on Sunday but it was too little too late at that point. Suffice it to say that the Lotus is harder to drive fast than the Sti was. That and the competition is much more difficult.

On another note, Frankenberry will beat a Shelby driver at some point this year and really piss someone off doing it. It will be funny.
