    New Hoosier A6 255-40-13?

Can anyone point me to a thread talking about this new size? (not available?)  I'm running 13's and haven't switched to 15's (yet), but was wondering what others thought about these Hoosiers.  Thanks.

Yeah - I didn't want to go through the expense of new 15" wheels and cutting my wheel fenders.  I believe these new Hoosiers will fit on my current 13x9 wheels.

how many events do miatas typically get on a set of hoosier?

My only fear is going through 3 or 4 sets of tires @ 800 bucks a set

I don't think you'll go through 3-4 sets a year.  Oh wait, I don't know how many events you run.  I usually run 14-18 local events plus a Pro Solo and I can usually get through most of the season on a set and a half.  I have six wheels, I rotate them every event and sometimes I flip them.  I run on the Wendover rough concrete a few times per year and with six tires plus some co-drives, I've never made a full season.

Judging by the whoopin I got in DC by Jinx, I'd say they are an extremely good way to go if you're looking to get more grip without messing up gearing, hacking fenders, or buying much larger wheels.

Now if only the other tire companies would make them in either size.....Opportunity knocks....Hello, anyone home mcHankook?

Holly crap - they are HUGE!  Well, huge for a 13" tire.  I guess I need to get them mounted now and see if they fit on my 13x9 wheels and under the Miata. Big Smile

I'm interested to know, too.  If they fit without hacking the fenders, that would be great.  Also, let us know the backspacing of your wheels.

    Thanks!

    Re: New Hoosier A6 255-40-13?

Well, they fit - but I need to take it on a test drive, maybe late tonight or early morning before law enforcement wakes up!  I've been using Real Racing Wheels, 13x9 with 5 inch backspacing.  Actually, the wheels come with more like 5 1/4 inch backspacing.  I usually run them with no spacer on the rear, but with a 5mm spacer on front.  I have the '90 disc brake calipers in front and the 13" wheels fit over them fine (as long as I use the spacer).  I'm hoping to drive it down the street to the closest parking lot and try turning full left and right to see if anything rubs.

PS - I've run the Hoosier 225-45-13 and Kumho 215-50-13 tires on these Real Racing Wheels with no issues.

Here are a few pictures - no rubbing!  Full turn left and right with no issues. (Guess I need to take off the Kumho decals!)  jy

Those look great! You should come to our Divisional Event next weekend (Denver). There's a few STU guys from Utah coming over.

I wish I would have known earlier.  I'm planning on a track day at Miller Motorsports Park next weekend.  I've been trying to get home (Aurora) for a visit and was planning to look at the Colorado Region website to see what is scheduled.

those don't look squeezed at all on a 13x9.  gives me hope for them working ok on a 13x8.5....
