Pan Am Club Racers begin 2008 Rocky Mountain Division racing season

Our very own Pan Am club racers will be going full force in 2008 opening the racing season at Pueblo Motorsports Park. Pan Am national event drivers/owners/racers, Stan Czacki and Jose Gerardo will open their season on April 12th and 13th. Both Stan and Jose have already been amassing National points towards the 2008 SCCA Run-offs with races in the Arizona Region. Both Stan and Jose will complete their 5th and 6 national race events and will qualify for a SCCA National run-off invitation. The 2008 racing season in Rocky Mountain Division will consist of both National and Regional events. Regional racers Richard Dziak (Class FB, Formula F1000) and John Basler  (Class FC, Formula Continental) will make their respective 2008 RMD debuts at La Junta Raceway on May 3rd and 4th, 2008. Richard has already captured the Arizona SCCA Regional Saguaro Championship 2007-2008 with his latest wins at Phoenix International Raceway on March 22nd and 23rd, 2008. He was successful in securing his first Regional Championship with 6 wins and 1 second place finish. He will be the first Pan Am Club Racer to try to capture 2 Regional Championships in the same year. New Formula FC club racer, John Basler will also make his way to La Junta, Colorado to attend the first SCCA driver school, drive his first two races towards earning his first SCCA Regional Club Racing competitive license. John has been actively testing his car at ArroyoSecoRaceway during the winter months. Hector Maldonado another Formula race car driver with the Pan Am is in the process of converting his Formula Continental to the new FB Class, using a 1000cc Suzuki GSXR superbike motorcycle engine. If all goes well, Hector will debut his new conversion to Class FB at Sandia Raceway in early June 2008. Other Pan Am racers, in closed wheel cars will also race throughout the 2008 RMD Division season.

We wish all club racers the best in representing the Pan Am Region. Club Racing in the Pan Am has never been stronger, and we look forward to having National SCCA racers Stan Czacki, Jose Gerardo and hopefully Ben Dewitt in the National SCCA Run-offs once again in 2008. We wish Richard Dziak the best in his quest for dual regional Championships, and are very excitied about the prospects for John Basler who has advanced from a very experienced Solo 2 driver to Club Racing.
