Stan, thanks for the update. For a small SCCA Region, the Pan Am club racers are posting BIG results. The showing this weekend at Firebird International certainly shows the dedication and drive that our club racers have. Congratulations to Jose Gerardo (Class FC) , Stan Czacki (Class SSB), and Mark Kowlaski (Class SM) for the GREAT finishes and representation of the Pan Am region. Great racing Stan on Sunday for your second place finish, especially in a new race car. Quite the accomplishment.
In speaking with Jose Gerardo, he smashed the old Firebird International Raceway track record for Class FC racers on Sunday. I heard from other racers that Jose was extremely fast and the car ran perfectly. Jose broke the track lap time record that held for the last eight years, so his feat was really great. He is already planning to represent the PanAm region in the SCCA National runoffs later this year. Jose will complete National events 5 & 6 in Pueblo, Colorado later this spring. Certainly he will be a top favorite in the National Runoff event.
It was great to hear that Mark Kowalski entered and raced in the National event at Firebird International with the Spec Miata group. His 3rd place finish was great news. We hope to see Mark registred for many more races.
Certainly this news bodes well for the Pan Am Region and the success that our club racers have shown. The "club racing" program for the Pan Am has never been stronger, and with the new 2008 season just beginning, I am sure that we will hear and read many more acheivements that our racers have made.
Richard Dziak will finish up the 2007-2008 club racing program in Arizona on March 22nd, and 23rd, at Phoenix International Raceway in his new 2007 Phoenix F1K-07 F1000 Formula car. At present he is the Saguaro Championship Class FB points leader. John Basler, who recently purchased a 1993 Van Diemen Formula Continental has been testing his car on numerous outings at Arroyo Seco Raceway near Deming. He will be back on the track on March 15th, 2008 to test the formula car once again, as he has secured his safety equipment, will have his car teched by Stan Czacki, SCCA scrutineer, and makes plans for the SCCA drivers school and his first 2 official SCCA regional races at La Junta Raceway in La Junta, Co on May 3rd, and 4th, 2008. I wish John the best for a successful first 2 races. I spoke with John over the weekend, and told him he is in for a real thrill jut being in the starting grid of a "club race".
Keep up the great racing success!! ........to all Pan Am club racers. For a small region, we have become an awesome force.
