Pan Am Club Racers Win at Phoenix International Raceway

Pan Am Club racers Hector Maldonado and Richard Dziak successfully completed the Double Regional on Feb 16th & 17th, 2008 at Phoenix International Raceway. PIR is the home to NASCAR and Indy Car racing events along with many other races.

Hector Maldonado brought home 2 ....1st Place finishes ( Sat & Sun) in his class to secure his SCCA National Competition License. Hectors is now  in 2nd Place in the 2007-2008 Arizona Region Saquaro Championship Series in class FC.

Richard Dziak brought home 2.... 1st Place finishes (Sat & Su) in his class to continue the points leadership for the 2007-2008 Arizona Region SCCA Saquaro Championship Series. The weather was great with mild temps in the high 60's on Saturday and the low 70's on Sunday. Hector ran in the the FC class while Richard ran in the FB class.

Both Hector and Richard are long time Pan Am Club racers.  Richard & Hector maintain a dual membership with the Pan Am and the Arizona Regions, and both hold National Club Racing Competition licenses.  There are 4 more Arizona Region regional races to run, with  2 more  at PIR and 2 more at Firebird International. Richard leads the points championship by 33 points over his closest competitor. Hector is just 6 points away from a 1st place position in the 2007-2008 Championship series. The 2007-2008 Arizona club racing season will come to an end on May 4th, 2008. The region does not race in the summer months due to the extreme heat.

The next Arizona National club racing event  will be held the 1st weekend in March, 2008. As of this date Jose Gerardo is planning to attend and represent the Pan Am. Hopefully Stan Czacki will have his Camaro ready to race at PIR and also represent the PanAm.

The Pan Am club racing program is off to a great start for 2008, and with the combination of Arizona and Rocky Mountain Division, club racers can have a full year of racing.

More PanAm club racing news to follow.

Congratulations guys....well done! Let's see a couple more Regional Championships brought back to Pan Am!!

The Camaro is up on blocks having the brakes gone over as the pedal was a little long testing at Arroyo Seco. Barring unforseen circumstances we'll be at Firebird to try to take on my ex-Solstice...a little bittersweet, but I'm sure with time we can get the Camaro & myself competitive.

Stan, thanks for the positive comments.

Our Pan Am Club Racers will be rooting for you. I will be watching the registration line-up for Firebird.

I am sure that the Pan Am Club Racing Endowment will be assisting you with a few $$$ for some tow money. lodging expenses, etc.

Sounds good Richard. Your and the Endowments help is always appreciated! As we can see by the increasing numbers of road racers from PanAm vying for championships and displaying their talents on the divisional and national stage, it IS making a difference!!

Looking forward to a strong end of season run from you and Hector in the Saguaro series.
