Just make sure you are very clear with them what you will be doing with the car. Sure autox but it would be good if you have some sort of data to back up how much time you spend accelerating through X RPM range. My S/P Camaro had a reflashed PCM, and I made very sure that it was understood that I wanted as much tq as possible and could care less about HP...........And it had tons of tq, but for some reason really ran out of steam at higher RPM........But by putting it on the dyno you'll be able to try and eliminate that high rpm peter out fest.......
At least on that car there were big gains in tq with a built S/P engine tuning.
BMW 325. SM project. Goodbye ESP, hello SM. If you are going to buy wide wheels, buy wide tires and don't be a retard.

Maybe things are different on a Camaro, but that doesn't make sense. How is adding or subtracting timing or fuel at 8k RPM going to change power output at 4k RPM?

It shouldn't, but perhaps they can't remap timing per load/ rpm and can only make gross changes?
Meanwhile... Lets have an NER dyno day!!!

Hondata S200/S300 is very flexible as to what you can do and where in the RPM range. Maybe you're thinking of an old school SAFC controller.
Nate--a Hondata tuner who knows his stuff is highly recommended. Yes, anyone can get more HP with a Hondata, but a good tuner can give you good idle, a ton of midrange torque while preserving your peak power. It is definitely worth the drive to find a tuner that knows his stuff.

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....
I was going to do an update post on sunday, but I forgot to get pictures. At any rate, the front fenders are done and hung. They just need wet sanding and final fitment. From there I just have to put the rest of the body work back on (bumper cover, side skirts, underbody panels), finish my exhaust, put some fresh oil in it, and break the clutch in. Oh, and fit the passenger seat, rework the driver's seat mounting (10lbs to save right there!) and install a passenger side harness. Also still to do, A/C removal, ECU tune, mount the DL1 and wire in the extra signals, install a crank pulley and p/s pulley, intake, and that should about do it for the first year build.

No pots on the dampers, but I'd like to hook up rpm, tps, and brake pressure for starters. At some point add in steering angle. I may also hook up oil pressure and IAT to monitor some of the engine vitals.

Nate,
Back to the axle talk...
As an example my 95 si (w/o ABS) still has stock hubs. It has had the stock d16z6 axles, 99si axles, and one of Rodney's type r axles. All just popped right in.

Finally! First event of the season was last Sunday. The first chance to drive the car in anger with the suspension and tires on it. Other then the conage, everything went really well. Time to start fine tuning now, add more power, and get more weight out! Some pics can be found at http://www.kevlarninja.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=19&g2_page=12 Nate

Stop making Street Mod look bad.
I'm running out of excuses.
Can't say the same for Rodney.
Kthx.

Maybe I should make my fenders wider, then....

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....
lol. Interesting results from Event 1... To bad all it means is that we all sucked on our crap tires from last year (or older, hi grant!) and I lucked out with some of the better conditions. The BMW club event in a couple weeks should shed more light, but I think it'll still be another handful of events before we really know if this thing has enough in it to "get 'er dun!". Damn if it ain't a hoot to drive though!

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....
So, Event 2 in the car. 8 runs, 1 in wet conditions, 1 in drying conditions, 6 in dry but 50* weather. It was a BMW marque event. Steve Hazaard and Alex Schipkov were both present. The R takes FTD, FTP and I beat Alex by 8 seconds. All this and my front tires were just showing a little cord after my fastest run.
Finally got the header and test pipe on. Now I'm getting a tiny bit of wheel spin coming off corners. That'll probably get fixed with fresh rubber though. I'm fully addicted to the horsepower now. I need more! Still has a/c and the stock passenger seat. I figure I'm carrying another 50-75lbs on the car easily and that's not including going to the 4-lug brake setup which is rumored to be another 60lbs. Come on Mike, get your car put back together!

my wife just got me a very nice tee-shirt
it says
"Do not mess in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with catsup!"
we now return to the regularly scheduled program...

solo-x:
going to the 4-lug brake setup which is rumored to be another 60lbs.
it won't be 60. i saved 13lbs per corner up front, but i went to the 9.4 brakes. i would hazard a guess that you will save 10 lbs per corner in the nose going to the 10.2's.
the rear was not nearly as much, about 7 per corner, but i went to drums, which were a smidge lighter (-2lbs) less then discs.
on a side note, i had extended arp studs, but no heatshields on the 5 lug setup with nsx clappers. i am going to guess 30lbs total for your SP legal swap. let me know how close i am.

If I get bored some day I'll weigh everything and find out. For now, I have no plans on dropping down to the 4-lug.

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....
8 seconds? Did Alex drive in reverse? Or should we just start the letter writing campaign to put the ITR into SSP (Super Street Prepared)?
If I had the correct valve cover gasket, the car would be running (albeit with an open header exhaust). Trust me I'm wrenching as fast as I can!
