Mike Shields:
OK, so while you concentrate on shifting, I'll concentrate on cornering :P
Once I get the head back on the car and get it off to the dyno for tuning, we'll have to compare dyno charts to see just what the area under the curve is.
-Mike
Definitely. Where are you taking yours to get it dyno'd? I was thinking of hitting that place in Ayer.

Really? I thought the bigger outer joint went with the bigger hubs and bearings. They look bigger then my civic axles, but I don't have a gsr axle to compare against. Part numbers are different too. 44010-ST7-J61 for the GSR axle, 44010-ST7-J72 for the ITR axle.

ah, you n00b..... sohc civic axles are different then dohc integra. they are smaller, and they do not have a halfhsaft... you should know this.
regarding gsr and itr axles, they are physically the same. same outer joint, spline count etc. you can swap the gsr 4lug spindles/brakes directly onto the itr and it will be bolt on, no axle issues. same with 99/00 si and 94/95 si w/ abs spindles. all the 10.2 stuff. in fact, the 96-00 and 92-95 dx spindles (9.4 brakes) bolt on with no fuss as well. only the 92-95 cx will not wor, as the outer hub has a smaller spline count.

Nate,
I'm thinking Turner since it's going to be a custom chip burned for the stock ECU. If anyone happens to know of a better option, I'm all ears

What size is your axle nut? Do only the JDM type-r's get the big axles with the 36mm nut? I know the rest of the b-series nuts are 32mm. That's an easy way to verify. I could have sworn that the Type-Rs got bigger axles than the rest of the DOHC motors.

I know about the intermediate shaft on the b-series. Guess I'm just being thrown by the different part numbers for the axles per honda parts fiche. At least I've got that l33t ABS!

Ah, didn't know Turner did dyno services. Do you know what type of dyno they use?

this car is being prepped for SP, you are not allowed to change to jdm parts, hence he will have the 32mm setup. not that that makes a difference, since the jdm front brakes/rotors/calipers are the same, only the hub/bearing is larger. i never had hub issues, and i run the smaller bearing/spindle setup then he is
nate, i know the gsr and itr axles have diff part numbers, iirc the gsr axle has green rings on it and the itr has red. but the are dimensionally the same. all b series integra/civic/del sol axles are the same, save for the 90-93 teg driver's side. the difference there is the half shalft is female instead of male, but it will work if you have the 90-93 axle/halfshaft combo though. oh, and the 99/00 si does not have the abs rings on it, but they can be put on.
god damn, i am a plethora of honda info..... i would say more but someone just told me to SHHHHH!

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....
I just gave Kevin Holmes @ Turners a quick shout. He'd be glad to take on individuals probably next week (this week is flat out) but would also consider a group. If several folks wanted to come together he reckoned that would be a Saturday gig. He is open to that.
And yes, it's a Dynopak.

I'm thinking Turner won't know how to tune Hondata.... NER dyno day at the place in Ayer would be pretty cool though. hrm.........

I wouldn't be able to get to the dyno until April at the earliest. (the car isn't quite drive able yet and I don't have my tuneable ECU yet either) Any idea if Turner will tune stuff other then a BMW?

Mike Shields:If by Ayer place you mean KTM, then you're SOL. They have a dyno, but no tuner.
When I took the tour over there last year during the Devens Tour they had a tuner that could tune Hondata ECU's. Maybe he left?

I knew that much, I just couldn't recall if the USDM Rs got 36mm axles or not. Apparently you could.

I know Mike and Quag are no-where near ready for dyno time :P I've got a decent basemap, so I can hit up local stuff on low-boost if any events come up between now and then. Maybe I'll go paint my car one color while I wait.
