How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....

To the Sandbox members, I apologize for the cross post.

I've been kinda piddling along on this project all winter. As you can see, the 2812's are already on and I've already mounted a Magnaflow cat-back. In the last couple of weekends the car has slowly been disassembled until it reached it's current state. The disassembly phase is almost complete and the assembly phase should start shortly.

With front fenders and the Keizers mounted up.....

Front shot before I took the fenders off, with the Keizers on....

How far the Keizers stick out past the stock fenders.....

    Side shot, no fenders.........

Things still to do listed in no particular order:

    1) Get a junkyard set of fenders or order some from Veng to chop up
    2) A trip to the junkyard for some misc. bits and peices gone missing from the car in the last 10 years
    3) Correct the hub bore on the Keizers (didn't realize they were different on an R then on a Civic. oops!)
    4) Get a header. I need to do some research on this subject, as many require modification of the block brace.
    5) Get rubber mounted
    6) Order a pair of 15x7 rear wheels
    7) Double check the alignment
    8) Replace the clutch
    9) Order a steering wheel
    10) Order an OBD2 -> OBD1 harness
    11) Wire in the DL1
    12) Pull the a/c, radio, rear wiper assembly
    13) Get a good base ECU tune
    14) Get the passenger seat ordered and a mount for it fabbed together.

First event is in a couple of months. I'm getting the feeling that I'll be thrashing on this thing the night before. Anybody have some spare Integra fenders they don't need anymore? Stick out tongue

    How does one dethrown?

Is that like catching? De-Throw? Un-Throw?

Bring it on!! I hope you've got enough gears in that thing to make up for the torque deficit!!

It looks like it'll be a good year to watch DSP from the ranks of FSP ;-)

Good luck with all that checklist to go.  I've only got a few things left on mine, but one of them is roughly translated (minus vulgarities) to "assemble engine." That's a big one.

I hope your sawzall skillz are better than mikes, I remember the original carnage, it was something only a mother could love

someday i aspire to hack up a perfectly good car, but for now I will happily sit back and watch you two from the saftey of my stock class, but just you know, I could be there at the line behind you at any moment.  Dont think because you skipped out on DS you are safe. Wink

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....

I've done the "assemble engine" one before. The red car was purchased in february, the motor was out in march, and it was assembled and ready for competition in April. Being self employed at the time helped tremendously, though it didn't afford much in budget. I'm not too worried about the list. Much of it will get knocked out next weekend. A lot of the rest can get taken care of as the season progresses. My big one is the fenders. I've only got two to modify which makes me twice as likely to make them prettier then Mike's sawzall job, but it's still a bit of a project.

I'd like to disassemble the motor in a slightly more controlled manner....

The TypeR engine code is b20z, right? Wink

Use an air nibbler on the fenders, much cleaner line and more controllable than the sawzall...

I was ALMOST over R-comp withdrawl, almost! I think a pair of 15x9.5's and some 275's are in the future for the CSP CRX. Damn, it's going to take a month to get it out of my head...

Re: How to ruin a good DS car OR How to dethrown the BMW's....

Last I checked you could get generic Integra front fenders for like $67/piece.  Why not get a set and hacksaw those up?

Not that I once thought about DSP or anything...but since you're doing it I'll let you be the guinea pig.

Todd, that is the plan. I have to swing by the yard anyhow for some other things, so I'll check for some teg fenders for uber cheap that are workable. I've heard the aftermarket ones don't fit so well or I'd go that route without any hesitation.

Hahahahaha, I forgot to put the silver foil on the plexiglass so it didn't concentrate the solar rays and warm up the tires :)

So Nate, what would it take for me to borrow your set of 15's for a day to do some testing on my CSP car???? Maybe I should bring both cars up for the Devens Tour?

Good luck. I'm one who does believe the Integra can compete with the right course set up (prays for the right course set up).
