thanks to cones, no. but I've been quicker than him. last year I just didn't have a ride, so I didn't really have a proper chance to challenge him. Joseph.

hmmm cones count though, don't they? If so, then you weren't "quicker" than him...
If cones didnt count, I would have beat drew AND brian (in drew's car) at the last autox event...But alas, the cones did me in...so drew was still faster

I'm just talking about raw speed. I will get the hang of the cones soon enough when I get used to the size of my car instead of jumping in different cars every event. that is if a bunch of SUV's stay the hell away from my car! and when was "the last autox event"? I saw you ran the Rustang at the event in December. Joseph.

Joseph, If it is raw speed you so good at, without cones of course, how did the SUV hit you and your MR2 in the ass?

first off, I never said anywhere that I was "good" at it. you said that. and the reason I got rear ended was because he wasn't looking when he took off and ran into a stationary me who was sitting at a stop sign merging onto 51. and I'm not sore that I've lost to him before, I'm just sore that I never had a proper chance to beat him. if he's kicked my ass fair and square before, I'll admit it, but if I feel I've never had a fair chance to find out, then I won't believe he's quicker. sorry if that comes off arrogant, or whatever negative adjective you want to put in it's place, but I'm just being honest about how I feel. hmmm...it's just a shame I won't get another shot at the sti...but, I will have plenty of chances at that "itty-bitty toy car" (that I can't fit in) called a Lotus...so, you had better "Bring It On!"...
and Joe, people are only giving you grief about comparing the raw speed to cone thing because saying you would have beat somebody if you didn't hit a cone is like saying "My team would have won the football game if we had only scoed more points than the other team"...Coning runs is NOT a good thing, and unfortunately it counts...Being "fast" with raw speed means nothing if you can't stay off the cones...hell, i could drive a straight line through all the cones on the course and be a full 30 seconds faster in "raw time" than I would have otherwise, but I will still lose...and probably get jumped by all the course workers after my run...

of course you can, but that'd be retarted. I'm just saying, so what if my line was a 1/4" tighter than it should have been and I knicked a cone. I don't go out of my way to cut the course, and then just say I win on the fact that I'm just looking at raw time. don't exaggerate like that, that's just ridiculous. and whoever you are who drives the Civic, get off my damn back! I swear, you annoy the piss out of me and we haven't even met! at least me and Rotenberry can talk like regular people to each other. I do know that cones count, but it doesn't keep me from thinking what I think. now that I have a car that I daily drive every day, I can get to know the car, and it's dimensions, so I know what to expect on the autoX course, rather than being forced to learn the car quickly (a situation I put myself in). and I do race to win, btw. of course we all want to become a better driver, but that isn't going to come in leaps and bounds by having a little more than 6 minutes of track time over a whole weekend. honestly, I autocross for the competition. I like the challenge of getting only a few runs to learn the course and get the quick time in. it helps prepare my mind for getting quick laps out of the car immediately. stuff like that is good for qualifying. as far as making you a better driver, road course stuff is where that will happen. like I said, over the course of a year, you will probably get 2 hours or so of track time. and that won't exactly make you Michael Schumacher, although I will admit it does help. I come there for the competition and the chance to win.
Joseph.

Umm... what? I haven't even said anything to you in this thread. And you've actually ridden along with me on a run in my car. Not my fault you don't remember. And believe me, I share your feelings about being annoyed.
My bad if you were referring to someone else with a Civic.

ahh, I do now that you mention it. yea, my memory isn't the greatest. and it's not so much what you said in this thread, it's what you said in the other thread. but, I was definitely referring to you. Joseph.

joe,
you know the point of autox is to be the fastest without cones so please don't make excuses. (i.e. just one cone, didn't have a ride, didn't know the dimensions of your car). If it is as simple as a 1/4" and you are that good, please move your car over 3/8" (the extra 1/8" is just to be safe). Even if you were that good you should probably sit back for a moment and realize that you are running in a street tire class in one of the smallest and least competitive regions in the country (no offense to anyone else, but hey, how many people that are regulars here have even been to a national level event recently...four? and those who have been, realize that what I am saying is true). Considering that, it might be good for you to find a balance between your competitive nature, which is not a bad thing, and trying to actually make a friend or two while you're out there doing what you love to do.
This is honest, friendly advice mixed with a little sarcasm.

Not being much of a techie, I finally figured out how to upload the picture I took of my wife in front of my friend Stewart's car. What the hell is an avatar anyway? Who comes up with these names?
