Overall, I have not put any real though into SM divided up by weight.  I do favor the SM FWD and SM AWD/RWD division.  Very few people will have the option or inclination to change their cars from fwd/rwd to awd.  Drive-type is a given trait based upon the car purchased, not something that you can purchase as an aftermarket option.  This was my original thought and IMO, the better of the two options.

IMO, If someone wanted to propose a rule that would irritate SM competitors, the weight-divided version of SM would be the one.

    Thoughts?

    modernbeat:

The driver currently weighs 230. In tip-top shape I weigh 210. I think you forgot that mid engined RWD cars have an additional 20 lbs / liter to carry compared to front engined-RD cars. XP is calculated on ACTUAL displacement. DP is calculated on unmodified block displacement.

For reference, both the people you quoted drive mid engined RWD cars.

With a 1853cc motor (which equals 200 NA HP to me) a Europa has to weigh 1608, plus my current weight brings us to 1838, plus a three gallon fuel load is 1857, plus any safety factor for screwy scales, or whatever... Add a few more lbs on for an overbore.

A built to the hilt 4AGE will surpass 200 hp and only be ~1.6L.

For 300 hp, it would require a FI 1796cc engine (that boosted 2zz or similar) which would have a minimum weight of 1754, plus the 19 lbs of fuel and 230 of driver is a grand total of 2003 lbs plus any safety weight.

Again, a FI'd 1.6L, or even a really well built <~2.2L NA engine should be able to reach 300 hp without much issue.

Blah blah blah....whining about having to add ballast.... Blah blah blah.

So you're discouraged from building an XP car because you have to add weight wherever you want and still probably have the lightest car in the grid?  I don't get it.  You have *THE* potential class killer car, and you're complaining that the rules aren't fair to you?

    Wow...

    Wow...

Yep. I'm a poor driver. I need as many advantages as I can muster. Cool
