    2008 Personal Goals?

What are y'all aiming for this year?

Me, I'm looking for A trophy from the indy region.  I'm hoping to teach myself to look ahead more, brake later and generally improve on last years great start.

Trophies?  Not for this guy, I gave up years ago.

I want an involved worker award.  I need a embroidered fleece jacket.

My goal is to learn to drive my new car with traction control turned off (and not spin it out). I tried a couple times last year and spun it every time. I know the DSC is slowing me down, but my pedal foot has an on/off switch - I need to install a dimmer switch. I would love to be in the battle for a season trophy, but I think that is probably beyond my abilities this year (I did pick up the Henry Watts book Clemens suggested, so maybe I will learn some new stuff).

I also hope to sweat a lot less - and not get burned so many times.

And, I hope to meet more people.

    Re: 2008 Personal Goals?

I'm setting much lower goals this season, as I'll probably be handicapping myself on tires unless some new sizes come out in 15".  I just want one GOOD run each event.

    Re: 2008 Personal Goals?

Oh, I suppose they'd be adequate.  Rollseyes

Too bad it would take equally large amounts of $$$ and grinding to get them under the car.  If somebody is willing to provide the wheels and tires though.  Now if somebody would make a good 245/40-15 or 245/35-15 I'd be willing to put them on the 15x8's and get them to work.

I bet it'd still be faster even if you had to raise it up some to fit them under there. They are beastly.

    Re: 2008 Personal Goals?

I have no doubt that it would be faster.  Unfortunately, it's not a matter of raising the car but more a matter of making them clear suspension components and fender wells when the front wheels are turned.

I guess that's true. I wouldn't cut it up either. Now Raleigh on the other hand Wink

    1.  Put transmission back in car without dropping on head.

    2.  Get Koni inserts installed without drilling hole thru hand.

    3.  Make fun of McGuire more.

    4.  Try to have the car in running order by March tech day.

    Thank you.

They are aggressive but attainable. I should have done it this year but I couldn't seem to get my head out of my arse.

    Re: 2008 Personal Goals?

Probably the real SM most of the time.  I've still got a set of 15" Avon Rs from last season to use up.  For Indy and CSCC events that my son Parker can also go to (kart friendly sites), I'll be on street tires since I can't fit 4 wheels in the back of the car with him.  He's too young to sit up front.  I'll be easy pickings at those events, since I decided to go with commute friendly 215/50-16 Avon M500 street tires instead of the usual 215/45-16 Azenis this season.

Once the 15" Avon Rs are used up, I may switch to a more autocross appropriate street tire if there is anything in a size that will work for the car by then.  205/50-15 is really too short for my car, unfortunately. 225/45-15 or 225/50-15 work much better.

It doesn't look like Bridgestone is going to have anything useful in 15", but Toyo and maybe Khumo might release something later this year.

    Re: 2008 Personal Goals?

    1.  Find a way to pay for new suspension that won't (a) wallow like a seasick mannatee and (b) cause extreme nausea and/or permanent kidney damage during morning commute.

    2.  Find a way to hide #1 from wife.

    3.  Retire after winning lawsuit against SCCA after proving that working T&S in the bus with a certain RE constitutes a class 2 EPA hazardous work environment.
