On January 1, 2008, Sports Car Club Of America is joining all the other motorsports clubs in the United States by REQUIRING MEMBERSHIP in the SCCA in order to PARTICIPATE as a DRIVER in ALL club sanctioned events.
This requirement is not new. It's long been in effect for Pro/Club racing, Solo Tour, Pro Solo, National Solo Championships, Solo I, etc.
The membership requirement is now being extended to include regional Autocross, Rally Cross and Road Rally.
Because Mississippi Region is primarily an Autocross club, this requirement will effect some of our regular/frequent A/X drivers, as well as those who will be getting involved in SCCA in the future.
There are 7 membership plans available. All provide $1,000,000 accident medical insurance while participating in an SCCA event. Some plans provide a discount to the new member via a credit for listing a referring current member - and the referring current member recieves a credit toward their next years membership renewal. Other plans simply have a reduced membership fee.
To further encourage MSSCCA membership, the MSSCCA board has decided to continue it's "1st A/X free" program for most FULL member plans. The entry fee for MSSCCA A/X events will continue at $25. On weekends when MSSCCA holds 2 A/X events, the $5 reduction for paying the entry fee for Sunday on Saturday will continue.
MEMBERSHIP PLANS FOR 2008.
WEEKEND MEMBERSHIP is an introductory plan designed for the 1st time driver.- the "newbie". The cost is $15 and covers one weekend of events. A credit of $15 is given when the "newbie" becomes a full member of SCCA within 60 days. There is no limit on the number of Weekend Memberships a driver may purchase, however, the credit is limited to $30 when joining within 60 days. The cost for a Weekend Membership ($15) and 1 A/X ($25) will be $40.00.
INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP is a full membership plan for adults age 25 or over. The membership is $75. A credit of $15 is given for listing a referring current member, making the net Individual membership fee $60. A prior weekend member credit can be applied. MSSCCA will waive the entry fee of the 1st A/X ($25).
FIRST GEAR MEMBERSHIP is a full membership plan for individuals between age 16 and age 24. The membership is $45. A prior weekend membership credit can be applied. MSSCCA will waive the entry fee of the 1st A/X ($25).
MILITARY MEMBERSHIP is for full time, active duty military individuals. The membership is $45. A photocopy of the new members military ID is required with the membership application. A prior weekend member credit can be applied. MSSCCA will waive the entry fee of the 1st A/X ($25).
FAMILY MEMBERSHIP is for husband, wife, children under age 18. The membership is $115. A credit of $20 is given for listing a referring current member. A prior weekend member credit can be applied. MSSCCA will waive the entry fee for 1drivers 1st A/X ($25).
SPOUSE MEMBERSHIP is for wife or husband. The membership is $25. A credit of $15 is given for listing a referring current member. A prior weekend member credit can be applied. (Significant Others must join as Individual members.)
