so did anything happen with the sol/GXP move?  I would hate to see the BMW/Corvette crowd crying when a turbo4 convertible starts beating them....

     Out for member comment:

    - Move from ASP to BSP:
    BMW M3 (E46)
    - Consolidate the last two lines of the C4 Corvette listings in BSP into one which would read:
    “Corvette C4 (all, 84-96)” (ref. 07-431)
Note: This would permit update/backdate among all C4s including the ZR-1 version.
    - Move from ASP to BSP:
Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline (ref. 08-084)

Proposal for moving the Skystice to BSP is in the June Fastrack.

Re: BSP NEEDS TO BE FIXED! SEND A LETTER!

I find this Fastrack statement to be weird.

"The SPAC is not at this time recommending any changes with regard to the SP classification of the Mitsubishi Evolution and
Subaru WRX STI. It is the committee’s position that other recommended changes will help competitiveness for some of the other existing
    cars in BSP."

The only "help" was given to the Corvette and I'm not sure it's really that much help.  I'll add my translation to the mix.

"We are going to make other current cars faster by possibly bringing in newer faster cars like the E46 M3 and the GXP"  Those additions should defiantly make the E36 M3 and 350Z faster. Stick out tongue  I really wonder if anyone will try to swap in the LT5 over an LT4?  If you can even find an LT5.

All that has happened, short term, is an acceleration of the arms war in BSP...ya gotta pay (more) to play Wink

Longer term, the introduction of the new cars should help the class numbers. The GXP could be particularly interesting...I still think yoiu have an "apples and oranges" situation with the AWD cars in the mix, though.

Given that this now seems to be officially the last year for Harland Park, I wouldn't expect any changes based on AWD vs 2WD debate until 2010 when there has been at least one Nationals run on whatever the new Nationals surface is going to be. Especially if it's a high grip site in a part of the country that doesn't see rain a ton.

I've driven both an AS GXP Z0K and a BSP Evo.  The Z0K package will be fairly close to what a SP GXP will end up running.  I think the car is capable of knocking off the Evo, but you'll need one hell of a driver to do it.  Either way, it establishes some great competition at the top of BSP.

How much boost can a stock GXP turbo produce in SP trim / how much power can a GXP in SP trim produce?

I also have a bit of a hard time believing that a z0k package will end up being what you want in SP (I've yet to hear of an example where a performance package from the manufacturer ends up being what you want in SP).  Maybe this is the time, but I doubt it.

That might lead one to wonder what the Z0k cars are doing in AS in the first place.  Devil

Because we're not running 335 tires or 27 lbs of boost...

The springs could go a little stiffer, but other than that I wouldn't change much with the suspension.

Bring the E46 M3 and GM Skystice to BSP, more trophy fodder for the Evo!!!!

I don't know that the Solstice will be fodder...

How light can you get one in SP trim? Is somewhere in the mid 2600 range about right?

How much useable power? Maybe 350 at the wheels?

    On a set of 315's?

Sounds pretty good to me, on concrete Wink

Still 350 on only TWO wheels.  350 ponies at FOUR wheels will still go more better...;-)

    ...advantage, Evo...

Re: BSP NEEDS TO BE FIXED! SEND A LETTER!

Well seeing that i've been developing a SP GXP...

315's are are about the limit for tire width. I am running on some 18x11 CCW's, in the rear we have to use a spacer to clear the upper control arm when the wheel goes into droop. the 315's actually fit the front very well.

As for the weight, i think 2600 is a bit optimistic. last time we had the car on the scales it was ~2900. with a little more attention to detail (remove AC, remove radio and speakers, passenger seat...) we could get closer but not 300# less. I don't think the seats really drop that much weight with the 20lb seat weight. the drivers side drops more because of the electronic height adjuster, but the passenger side will be more or less to have matching seats. We can't remove the convertible top until GM comes out with a track package that already removes it.

In the power department it looks like the stock turbo is the limiting factor, although it's dosn't hurt too bad because we can still spin the 315 Hoosiers. The clutch is also a weak point but luckly that can be fixed in SP. I planning on getting that installed before Peru and Toledo.

I've had a few National Champs drive the car (Jr, Popp and Braun), they all liked the car but say it would be a good fit in BSP (Jr, Popp and Braun can correct me if they please :) )

So please write those letters (in support only! haha) of moving the Turbo Kappa's to BSP!

    ...advantage, Evo...

Wider tires, lighter weight, and a real suspension instead of McStruts.

    ...advantage, Solstice...

Put two top drivers in those cars and it'll end up being whoever's on that day, which is what we're trying to measure, isn't it?

Horsepower? A lot can be developed. Intercooler, high flow cat, bigger turbo (someone is in in final developement on a bigger version of the stock), larger intake butterfly (available), and a good software package.  Answer, a BUNCH.

Weight? Kappas are pigboats. My Redline scaled 2995 at Nationals almost on fumes. Mine has a hitch for about 35-40 pounds. Super stripped maybe 2800-2850.

Could work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doc is on the right path.

    Oops. My bad.

Spinning the Kappa turbo only heats up the air some more. It has a finite capacity. But the Ecotec engine is almost bulletproof, and as such should be able to handle anything it can produce. Subtract the bigger turbo, and all the other stuff can stiff produce some serious oomph.

it sounds like the GXPs are going to bring a lot of new fun to BSP.  Its too bad the 15 yr old class winners have so suddenly given up because new challengers have stepped up.  Oh well, sore losers are just that....

If YOU had a fully developed C4 Corvette you might not feel that way !!!!
